In the wee hours of Saturday morning, a 25-year-old man was walking with three friends westbound on W. Thompson Street in South Kensington when an SUV stopped and two men got out and ran at them.
The assailants pointed guns at the four friends and demanded their property, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. When the man refused, one of the suspects fired three shots at him, striking him once in the left leg. The other suspect approached the man’s friends and took a wallet containing identification and $70.
The victims fled and called 911. The man was taken to Temple Hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound to his leg.
The shooting took place on W. Thompson Street between N. Howard Street and N. Mascher Street, just two blocks west of Fishtown.
Police have release surveillance video of the shooting and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Click here to view the surveillance video.
The shooter is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old and 6’ 2” with a thin build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with his face covered. The other suspect is described as a black male, 20 years old and 5’ 8” with a thin build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. The vehicle they were in was a late 1990’s green Ford Explorer.
