Franklin Mills funds distributed to area groups

On June 9, the Frank­lin Mills Ad­vis­ory Coun­cil dis­trib­uted $89,725 to more than 25 com­munity or­gan­iz­a­tions in an award ce­re­mony at the North­east Seni­or Cen­ter, 12601 Town­send Road.

Among the 2014 be­ne­fi­ciar­ies are Academy Sports As­so­ci­ation, an all-vo­lun­teer staff ded­ic­ated to provid­ing youth sport­ing pro­grams to pro­mote men­tal and phys­ic­al health; City of Phil­adelphia Fire De­part­ment Lad­der 31; Phil­adelphia Po­lice De­part­ment 8th Dis­trict; Far North­east Seni­or Cit­izens Cen­ter; and Park­wood Youth Or­gan­iz­a­tion.

Fun­ded by Si­mon, own­er of Frank­lin Mills mall, the Frank­lin Mills Ad­vis­ory Coun­cil has been sup­port­ing area youth sports groups, seni-or cit-izens, schools, churches, po-lice and fire and oth-er char-it-able or-gan-iz-a-tions since 1989. 

The Coun­cil com­prises rep­res­ent­at­ives of neigh­bor­hood groups primar­ily loc­ated in the North­east sec­tion of Phil­adelphia. Since its in­cep­tion, the FMAC has donated more than $2 mil­lion to com­munity im­prove­ment or­gan­iz­a­tions in the area. ••
