Fatal accident in Crescentville

A North­east Phil­adelphia wo­man died in a two-vehicle crash at a Cres­centville in­ter­sec­tion last Thursday morn­ing.

The tragedy oc­curred at about 9:20 a.m. at Tabor and God­frey av­en­ues. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, a 71-year-old man was driv­ing a green Toyota Co­rolla south­bound on Tabor when he at­temp­ted a left-hand turn onto God­frey. The car col­lided with a blue van that was trav­el­ing north­bound.

A wo­man pas­sen­ger in the Co­rolla died at the scene. The city med­ic­al ex­am­iner iden­ti­fied her as Fer­mina Vera, 53, of the North­east. She died as a res­ult of mul­tiple blunt force in­jur­ies.

The 71-year-old man suffered crit­ic­al head and leg in­jur­ies and was taken to Al­bert Ein­stein Med­ic­al Cen­ter. An adult man was driv­ing the van and re­por­ted no in­jur­ies, po­lice said. No charges have been filed. ••
