Glen Fo­erd regatta set for June 17

Get a wiggle on and vis­it Glen Fo­erd’s Roar­ing ’20s Regatta on Tues­day, June 17, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Glen Fo­erd on the Delaware, 5001 Grant Ave.

The Ra­cing Fleet of the Delaware River Yacht Club will sail the river as vis­it­ors dine river­side en­joy­ing the speak­easy-style mu­sic of the 1920s. 

Early birds can wager on the yacht race, while The Gin Ca­nar­ies set the mood with live mu­sic. Vis­it­ors are in­vited to dress the part by “put­tin’ on the ritz” in ’20s style.

The cost is $40 per per­son, which does not in­clude the cash bar. Din­ner and dan­cing will be held in the River­side Pa­vil­ion, so the event will be rain or shine. Re­ser­va­tions should be made by June 12. Vis­it www.glen­foerd.org or call 215-632-5330. ••

Boo­gie-Woo­gie Ball is Sat­urday

The Phil­adelphia Prot­est­ant Home, 6500 Tabor Ave. in Lawndale, will hold the Boo­gie-Woo­gie Ball on Sat­urday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in its so­cial hall.

All ages are wel­come to en­joy a night of mu­sic and dan­cing. Light re­fresh­ments will be served.

Step­pin’ up at the vets home

Toe Tap­pers, a Doylestown-based tap dance troupe, will put on a spe­cial Flag Day show at the Delaware Val­ley Vet­er­ans Home at Southamp­ton and the Boulevard at 2 p.m. on Fri­day, June 13. This will be the second per­form­ance by the Tap­pers at the vets’ home.

“We are thrilled to give back once again to the vets,” said Dorothy Prisco, the Tap­pers’ pub­lic re­la­tions dir­ect­or. “We end our show with a spe­cial trib­ute to all vet­er­ans, in­clud­ing the vets who are mem­bers of our Toe Tap­pers group. We want to bring at­ten­tion to our vets so that oth­ers will donate their ser­vices to mak­ing our vet­er­an her­oes’ lives hap­pi­er.” ••

String band to per­form

Ferko String Band will per­form on Thursday, June 12, at 7:15 p.m. as part of the Phil­adelphia Prot­est­ant Home’s 16th an­nu­al sum­mer con­cert.

The con­cert will take place in the so­cial hall of PPH, 6500 Tabor Ave. in Lawndale.

Fath­er’s Day Car Show is Sunday

The Ra­dis­son Hotel, at 2400 Old Lin­coln High­way in Tre­vose, will hold a Fath­er’s Day Car Show on Sunday.

The car show will be­gin at 8 a.m. It is free for guests and $15 for entries. Prizes will be awar­ded to win­ners, and all entries will re­ceive a goody bag.

Brunch will be served at 10 a.m. The cost is $28, or $18 for kids 4-12. A por­tion of the pro­ceeds will go to the sur­viv­ors’ fund for Phil­adelphia and Bucks County po­lice or­gan­iz­a­tions.

Pro­gram at Over­ing­ton Park

Neigh­bors can come out and meet the people who keep Over­ing­ton Park green. The meet-and-greet pot-luck pic­nic is slated for noon to 3 p.m. on Sat­urday, June 14, at the park, at Leiper and Or­tho­dox streets. 

There will be mu­sic, food and fun, in­clud­ing a salsa con­test. Bring your best. ••
