Cops ID body found in Delaware River

Police have identified the body of a man found in the Delaware River on July 4 as Richard Mascaro, 66, of Warminster.

Mascaro went into the water at 7:40 p.m. on July 2 as he and four others made for the Delaware River Yacht Club at 9635 Milnor St. as a storm approached, police said Monday. A wave capsized the 21-foot sailboat Buttercup, and all five went into the river near Pennypack Street, police said.

The four others made it to shore, but rescue workers searched the river for Mascaro until the weather and darkness forced them to halt. Mascaro’s body was found at 5:30 p.m. on July 4 at Delaware and Linden avenues. ••
