Two NE men nabbed in prostitution bust

An Academy Gardens resident is facing a child endangerment charge after he allegedly propositioned an undercover Philadelphia cop for sex with his 5-year-old son in his car during a Kensington Avenue prostitution sting.

Hector Flores-Martinez, 26, of the 9400 block of Lansford St., was one of two Northeast men nabbed in the Citywide Vice investigation in the 24th Police District on July 10. Police also arrested Marcus Lumpkin, 35, of the 11000 block of Academy Road, as a would-be “John,” along with Thomas Bernat, 52, of Jamison, and Fabio Garcia, 48, of Kensington, police said.

Martinez allegedly had his son sleeping in the back of his vehicle when he offered to pay an undercover cop for sex, police said. After the bust, officers took the child to the city’s Department of Human Services.

All four men were charged with patronizing prostitution and solicitation. Police seized $597 cash, 18 grams of marijuana and four vehicles during the investigation. ••
