Philly police post DUI stats online

Ever won­der how many drunk­en drivers that Phil­adelphia po­lice ar­rest dur­ing a week­end? Won­der no more.

On Dec. 12, the po­lice de­part­ment’s so­cial me­dia team un­veiled a new fea­ture on its of­fi­cial Philly­Po­lice Blog at blog.philly­po­

Every week, the cops will post their latest tally of DUI ar­rests.

There were 21 mo­tor­ists ar­res­ted for driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence from Fri­day, Jan. 3, through Sunday, Jan. 5, ac­cord­ing to the latest blog entry pos­ted on Monday. That tally does not in­clude mo­tor­ists ar­res­ted by oth­er law en­force­ment agen­cies with­in the city, such as Pennsylvania State Po­lice.

Those wish­ing to keep up with the latest in­form­a­tion should fol­low the @Philly­Po­lice or @PP­DEr­ic­Gripp handles on Twit­ter. Sgt. Gripp takes care of the blog post­ings. Or bet­ter yet, keep an eye on the “#DUIWatch” Twit­ter hasht­ag.

Since the fea­ture’s Dec. 12 de­but, new tal­lies have been pos­ted each Monday. There were 42 ar­rests from Dec. 13 to 15, 51 ar­rests from Dec. 20 to 22 and 50 from Dec. 27 to 29. ••
