Rizzo PAL sports sign-ups

Rizzo PAL is hold­ing sign-ups for the fol­low­ing activ­it­ies: NERF soc­cer for boys and girls age 6 to 8, in-house soc­cer for girls age 9 to 12, and in-house bas­ket­ball for boys age 9 to 13.

Con­cilio to hold homeown­er­ship work­shops

On Tues­day, Jan. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., Con­cilio will hold a free monthly homeown­er­ship work­shop to edu­cate the com­munity on how to be­come suc­cess­ful homeown­ers and pre­vent po­ten­tial fore­clos­ure. Top­ics to be ad­dressed will in­clude budget­ing, cred­it re­pair, mort­gages and the pur­chase pro­cess.

Phil­adelphia res­id­ents who at­tend the work­shop may be eli­gible for a city grant that as­sists qual­i­fied pur­chasers with their home clos­ing costs.

SKCP e-cyc­ling day

On Monday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., re­cycle your old elec­tron­ics re­spons­ibly as part of this event. Ac­cep­ted items in­clude cell phones, cal­cu­lat­ors, laptops, mi­crowaves, cam­er­as and more. Bring items to Fin­anta, 1301 N. 2nd St. This is a free ser­vice open to all, sponsored in part by South Kens­ing­ton Com­munity Part­ners. Note: there is a $20 charge for re­cyc­ling CRV-mon­it­ors. ••

PRCG to meet    

The Port Rich­mond Com­munity Group will meet on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m., at Our Lady Help of Chris­ti­ans’ Church Hall, Al­legheny Av­en­ue at Gaul Street. The group will dis­cuss the pro­gress of the city’s Land Bank cre­ation, as well as changes to State Rep. John Taylor’s scrap met­al le­gis­la­tion. Brides­burg Rec. soft­ball

Cione Rec. Cen­ter pro­grams

Port Rich­mond Lep­re­chauns sign ups

Bas­ket­ball sign-ups are tak­ing place now. The club­house will be open Tues­days, Wed­nes­days and Thursdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. Ages are 6-18, both boys and girls.

Activ­it­ies at Brides­burg Rec.

Zumba classes are be­ing held Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. Zumba Ton­ing is on Wed­nes­days.Cost: $4 per class. 

Scrap book­ing class is Wed­nes­days from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost: $5 per class. 

Ladies Bowl­ing League meets Tues­days at Erie Lanes at 9 a.m. Cost: $10. For more in­form­a­tion, call 215-685-1247.

Preschool is offered Thursdays and Fri­days from noon to 2:40 p.m. There are two spots left in the af­ter­noon class. Child must be 3 as of Sept. 1, and must be potty trained. 

Tod­dler Time is Mondays and Thursdays, noon to 2 p.m. Three spots are avail­able in the af­ter­noon class. Child must be 2 as of Sept. 1. ••

Tax help dead­line Jan. 15 

The City has cre­ated PHL Tax LOOP (Long­time Own­er Oc­cu­pants Pro­gram) to provide tax re­lief to ease the bur­den for these homeown­ers. If you are ap­proved, your tax bill will be re­duced for 10 years. 

To get these sav­ings, the city must re­ceive your ap­plic­a­tion by Jan. 15, 2014, and you have to meet the re­quire­ments—call 215-686-9200 with ques­tions and vis­it www.phila.gov/loop for more info. 

If you are not eli­gible for LOOP, you may be eli­gible for oth­er tax re­lief pro­grams. ••

Craft classes in Kens­ing­ton

Arts and crafts classes for adults are be­ing offered in the Stu­dio at Beacon on Wed­nes­day even­ings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Open stu­dio format means you may come any­time between 6:30 and 8:30 to par­ti­cip­ate. 

Free and open to all adults. Ma­ter­i­als, snacks, and lively con­ver­sa­tion provided.

Moth­er of Di­vine Grace Bible study and group ses­sions

On Wed. even­ings, through March 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Moth­er of Di­vine Grace Par­ish will be con­duct­ing a new Bible study. The theme will be “Wo­men of the New Test­a­ment.” 

Pre-re­gis­tra­tion is not re­quired, but call­ing the church will help them or­der the cor­rect amount of ma­ter­i­als. The cost of this study is $12. Also, if you’re a Cath­ol­ic who has been away from the church for a while, con­sider par­ti­cip­at­ing in M.D.G.’s “Cath­ol­ics Re­turn­ing Home” pro­gram. It is a six-week ses­sion con­sist­ing of six small group ses­sions.

North­east Cath­ol­ic Alumni Me­mori­al Schol­ar­ship Fund

The fund will be ac­cept­ing nom­in­a­tions for tu­ition as­sist­ance grants un­til Jan. 31, 2014. The nom­in­ees must be the chil­dren or grand­chil­dren of dues-pay­ing mem­bers of North­east Cath­ol­ic Alumni As­so­ci­ation, Inc. The fund awards $261,000 in grants each year. Rich­mond lib­rary events

Preschool Storytime is every Wed­nes­day at 10:30 a.m. This pro­gram is in­ten­ded for chil­dren ages 1 to 4 and their care­givers. Sib­lings are al­ways wel­come. Day­cares should call for sep­ar­ate ap­point­ments.
