The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit asked today for the public’s help in identifying the men who shot and killed 26-year-old Amber Long in a robbery in Northern Liberties Sunday night.
Police released a surveillance video that shows two men in hooded sweatshirts approaching Long and her mother and grabbing their purses at 10:35 p.m. Sunday on the 900 block of N. Front Street. When one of the men grabbed Long’s purse, he fired one fatal shot into her chest, police said.
The men were last seen fleeing north on Front Street in a newer, dark-colored, possibly four-door Chevrolet Impala, according to police. The video compilation also shows footage of the suspects’ car.
Long, of the 1700 block of Ritner Street in South Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital.
The city is offering a $20,000 reward and police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects, according to a press release.
