Stabbing on Christmas Day

Christmas Day turned bloody for an Upper Holmesburg man after he was stabbed numerous times near his home.

The 28-year-old victim remained hospitalized at Aria Health’s Torresdale Campus in critical condition on Thursday following surgery to repair wounds of the neck, chest and back, police said.

Police were called to the victim’s apartment on the 8800 block of Cottage St. at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday. The injured victim reported that he had been on the 4300 block of Megargee St. when a man stabbed him repeatedly. He then ran home and called 911.

Detectives were unable to conduct a full interview with the victim because of his medical condition. He described the attacker as a black man, about 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 165 pounds, with a Sunni-style beard and short hair.
