Pierogi Week

Pierogi Week is from Sunday, Feb. 23, to Sunday, March 2, in the “Cap­it­ol of Pol­ish Piero­gies.” Not­able es­tab­lish­ments that serve piero­gies in­clude Green Rock Tav­ern on E. Le­high Av­en­ue, Donna’s Bar on Al­legheny Av­en­ue, Szren­ka’s on Rich­mond Street and New Wave Bar on Al­legheny Av­en­ue. Piero­gies for take out are avail­able at Port Deli on Thompson and Clear­field Streets and Pol­ish Deli on Al­legheny Av­en­ue. ••

Rich­mond lib­rary events

Mommy and Me Storytime will take place Wed­nes­day, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. 

Mak­ing Mo­sa­ics will take place on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This pro­gram is a part of “One Book, One Phil­adelphia.” Par­ti­cipants will be cre­at­ing their own mo­sa­ics from tile, pebbles and glass pieces while learn­ing the his­tory of this an­cient art form.

Free tax pre­par­a­tion

Con­cilio will host free tax pre­par­a­tion for fam­il­ies with in­comes of less than $52,000 on Wed­nes­day, Feb. 26, in col­lab­or­a­tion with the Ceiba Co­ali­tion. 

The Hous­ing Pro­gram will also help eli­gible people with prop­erty tax and rent re­bates, prop­erty tax re­lief, en­ergy as­sist­ance and more. To re­gister for an ap­point­ment, call 215-627-3100.

South Kens­ing­ton Com­munity Part­ners and Fin­anta will also spon­sor free tax pre­par­a­tion on Fri­day, Feb. 28, at 1301 N. 2nd St. Call 215-427-3463 to make an ap­point­ment. ••

New play­ground meet­ing

PRCG meet­ing

Team­Fit grand open­ing

Greens­grow events

A to­mato graft­ing work­shop will be held on Sat­urday, March 8 from 12 to 2 p.m. Farm­er Nath­an Hassler-Brooks will demon­strate how to graft onto a blight res­ist­ant root stock and ex­plain why and how graft­ing works. Events at Atone­ment Church 

Fam­ily game night is Sat­urday, March 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring a game or play one of the provided games. Ta­cos, mulled wine and snacks will be provided.

A chil­dren’s ser­vice will be held on Sunday, March 2, at 11 a.m. with activ­it­ies for kids.

A bible chat, with soup, will be held every Wed­nes­day dur­ing Lent start­ing March 12 at 6:30 p.m. 

Pan­cakes and ba­con will be served on Fat Tues­day, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Chem­ic­al site meet­ing

The NK­CDC is co­ordin­at­ing a pub­lic meet­ing re­gard­ing the former Path­an Chem­ic­al Site loc­ated at 427-447 Moy­er St. The site has been found to con­tain con­cen­tra­tions of lead in soil and 1,2-di­chloro­eth­ane, 1,2-di­chloro­p­ro­pane, tri­chloro­ethyl­ene and tet­ra­chloro­ethyl­ene in ground­wa­ter. 

The meet­ing will be held on Wed­nes­day, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Fishtown Re­cre­ation Cen­ter at 1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave. Rel­ev­ant doc­u­ments re­gard­ing the re­medi­ation of this prop­erty are avail­able for pub­lic re­view at the Fishtown Com­munity Branch of the Free Lib­rary of Phil­adelphia, 1217 E. Tot Pro­gram Re­gis­tra­tion

Frank Glav­in Play­ground, loc­ated at Al­mond and West­mo­re­land Streets, will be hold­ing re­gis­tra­tion for their Tot Re­cre­ation pro­gram on Thursday, Mar. 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There is a $20 non-re­fund­able fee. Chil­dren must be 3 years old by Dec. 31, 2014 to be eli­gible for the 3-year-old class, and 4 years old by Dec. 31, 2014 to be eli­gible for the 4-year-old class. Mu­sic from the Middle East

Fishtown Com­munity Lib­rary, 1217 E. Mont­gomery Ave., will host All Around This World: Mu­sic From the Middle East on Fri­day, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. Small chil­dren and their care­givers will ex­plore rhythms and melod­ies from the Middle East and oth­er cul­tures in a fun-filled and par­ti­cip­at­ory way. Cione Play­ground fun­draisers

Texas Hold’em will be held on Fri­day, March 7 at 7 p.m. at AM Vets at Gaul and Ser­geant Streets. The cost is $100 to buy in. All pro­ceeds will be­ne­fit Cione Play­ground.

Kid’s bingo will be held Sat­urday, March 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. for ages to 12. The cost is $5. All pro­ceeds will be­ne­fit Cione Play­ground. ••

First Fri­day

Above Reas­on, a new col­lec­tion of oil paint­ings by Phil­adelphia-born artist Richard Gab­ri­ele, is on view at Artspace Liberti, 2424 East York St. The artist will host a re­cep­tion on Fri­day, March 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. to cel­eb­rate his first solo show in his ho­met­own.  ••
