Blue Flame Bouts will be Feb. 28

Po­lice and fire­fight­ers will square off in the box­ing ring on Fri­day, Feb. 28, as the Phil­adelphia Blue Flame hosts the 11th an­nu­al Blue Flame Bouts at the Pennsylvania Na­tion­al Guard Ar­mory, Roosevelt Boulevard and Southamp­ton Road.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the 18-bout card start­ing at 7:15. Ad­mis­sion costs $25.

Among the sched­uled fights will be more than a dozen Po­lice vs. Fire­fight­er show­downs, as well as wo­men’s bouts. Fight­ers have been train­ing since Oc­to­ber, some much longer, to put on a good show.

Pro­ceeds from the event will be­ne­fit the char­it­ies of the Phil­adelphia Po­lice and Fire Foot­ball Club, in­clud­ing Po­lice Sur­viv­or’s Fund, Fire Wid­ow’s Fund, Susan G. Ko­men Found­a­tion, Po­lice Ath­let­ic League, youth sports or­gan­iz­a­tions, aut­ism aware­ness, schol­ar­ship funds and more. ••
