A late-night food run turned painful for a Frankford Chinese take-out patron after another man asked him for a light, then beat the pulp out of him. An alleged accomplice contributed in the videotaped assault and stole the victim’s wallet, police said.

The ambush occurred on Aug. 12 at about 11:30 p.m. at Lucky Garden, 4671 Frankford Ave. A 51-year-old man had just placed a food order when a younger man entered the shop and asked him for a light. When the older man refused, the younger one exited the shop, only to return moments later and launch a strong-arm assault. The attacker punched the victim in the head and chest, police said, while a second man entered the shop, assisted in the beating and removed the victim’s wallet from his pocket. The wallet contained $300 cash and identification.

Both attackers fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim suffered lumps to his forehead and complained of pain in his ribs, but he did not seek medical treatment.

The first attacker was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, stocky, with a light brown complexion, a red Phillies t-shirt with “Werth 28” on the back, black shorts and white shoes. The accomplice was described as black, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin, with a black t-shirt, jeans and black shoes.
