NE Sports Awards Banquet winners announced

On May 14, the Northeast Times will celebrate its 29th annual Sports Awards Banquet at Cannstatter’s. In next week’s edition, the paper will publish a special banquet pullout section highlighting in detail all of this year’s winners.

Below is a list of the spring and annual award winners, which have been chosen by the Times sports department in affiliation with the local schools:

Baseball Coach of the Year: Chris Lauber, Franklin Towne Charter

Public League Baseball Player of the Year: Eric Cintron, Abraham Lincoln

Catholic League Baseball Player of the Year: Ryan O’Neill, Father Judge

Softball Coach of the Year: Vince Capizzi, Archbishop Ryan

Public League Softball Player of the Year: Briana Fuller, Frankford

Catholic Softball Player of the Year: Brittany Colombo, Nazareth Academy

Collegiate Athlete of the Year: Jake Harner, Bloomsburg University (swimming)

Holy Family University Female Athlete of the Year: Danielle McDevitt, softball

Holy Family University Male Athlete of the Year: Ervin Ezell, basketball

Most Courageous Athlete: Paul Thiergartner, Benjamin Rush/George Washington

Sportsmanship Award: Robert Franklin, George Washington

Unsung Hero Award: Jenna Markocki, Little Flower

Northeast Philadelphian Award: Kelly Mancini, St. Basil Academy

Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Karli Visconto, Nazareth Academy

Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: Cody Kettyle, Abraham Lincoln

Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Rose Pisacano, Little Flower

Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: Steve Callahan, Franklin Towne Charter
