One injured in Rhawnhurst house fire

One per­son was in­jured in a Rhawn­hurst apart­ment house fire early April 10. Capt. Clif­ford Gil­li­am said fire­fight­ers from En­gine 18 were dis­patched to the 8200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard at 1:11 a.m. and ar­rived there two minutes later to find flames com­ing from the base­ment of the three-story build­ing.

He said fire­fight­ers got the blaze un­der con­trol in 14 minutes, and one in­jured per­son was taken to a hos­pit­al. The fire’s cause is be­ing in­vest­ig­ated, he said. The Red Cross is hous­ing one res­id­ent at the Red Cross House in West Phil­adelphia and ar­ranged shel­ter for the res­id­ent’s pet. ••
