PRO­PAC to meet

PRO­PAC (Port Rich­mond on Patrol and Civic) will hold its monthly meet­ing on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Samuel’s Re­cre­ation Cen­ter, 3501 Gaul St. The meet­ing will be­gin at 7 p.m. On the agenda are two zon­ing is­sues, and up­dates on crime stat­ist­ics from the 24th Dis­trict Po­lice De­part­ment. Coun­cil­man Mark Squilla will be in at­tend­ance along with rep­res­ent­at­ives from Coun­cil­man Bobby Hen­on’s of­fice. •• 

Frank Glav­in Girl Scouts car wash

The Girl Scout Troops at Frank Glav­ing Play­ground, 2600 West­mo­re­land St., will host a car wash on Sat­urday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. Stop by and help the girls raise money to at­tend a youth edu­ca­tion pro­gram in Dis­ney World next year. 

Re­fresh­ments will be avail­able. Por­tions of all the group’s fun­drais­ing activ­it­ies will also be­ne­fit the Mus­cu­lar Dys­trophy As­so­ci­ation, the Ron­ald Mc­Don­ald House at St. Chris­toph­er Hos­pit­al, and the Glav­in Play­ground equip­ment up­grade fund. ••

St. Anne’s Coach bag bingo

St. Anne’s very first Coach bingo will take place on Sept. 7, at the so­cial hall, 2616 E. Le­high Ave., from doors open at 4 p.m., and games at 6 p.m. Cost is $30, which in­cludes 12 bingo sheets. Brides­burg Rec. flea mar­ket

Kon­rad Square flea mar­ket

Bless­ing of the Back­packs fest­iv­al

On Sunday, Sept. 8, join in at Grace Church and the In­carn­a­tion, 2645 E. Ven­ango St., to have your back­pack blessed, re­ceive a bag of school sup­plies, and go out­side to en­joy free food, games and block party activ­it­ies. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. ••

FACT to meet 

Fishtown Ac­tion’s monthly mem­ber­ship meet­ing will take place Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., at Holy Name of Je­sus Church Hall. Get an up­date from PennDOT on the I-95 pro­ject and how the com­munity will be af­fected. ••

Fin­an­cial as­sist­ance work­shop

Out­door film at Penn Treaty Park

A fam­ily film screen­ing will be held at Penn Treaty Park on Fri­day, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. “The Amaz­ing Spider Man” will be shown. Penn Treaty Park is loc­ated at Delaware Av­en­ue and Marl­bor­ough Street. ••

Beth­esda United penny party

24th Po­lice Dis­trict Golf Out­ing

The 24th Po­lice Dis­trict Ad­vis­ory Coun­cil is hold­ing its first an­nu­al golf out­ing at the Ju­ni­ata Golf Course on Fri­day, Sept. 20, with a shot­gun start at 10 a.m. Pro­ceeds will go to­ward pro­mot­ing pro­grams that make the neigh­bor­hood a bet­ter and safer place to live. Entry fee is $75, in­cludes golf cart, green fees, light break­fast and lunch. Frank Glav­in Play­ground up­dates

Glav­in is ac­cept­ing ap­plic­a­tions for grade school stu­dents to be en­rolled in the “After School Cares” pro­gram. It is also of­fer­ing Zumba classes on Tues­day even­ings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $4 per class, pay­able on the night of in­struc­tion. The next flea mar­ket is planned for Sat­urday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A dona­tion of $10 per set-up will be col­lec­ted day of event. Vendors must sup­ply their own table. Port Rich­mond Cross­Fit char­ity event

Cross­Fit Renais­sance, 3668 Sal­mon St., will be host­ing a char­ity event on Sat­urday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. A workout and a BBQ will be held, with all pro­ceeds go­ing to Steve’s Club, an or­gan­iz­a­tion that helps young­er kids get off the streets through fit­ness. Civil War me­mori­al un­veil­ing

On Sunday, Sept. 29, a monu­ment will be ded­ic­ated to the memory of the Will­ingmyre broth­ers, five Fishtown men who all fought in the Civil War. Two of the broth­ers died while fight­ing in the war for the Uni­on. The monu­ment will be un­veiled at Palmer Cemetery, at Mem­ph­is and Palmer Streets. Act­ing class and fun­draiser at Walk­ing Fish Theatre

Cione fall pro­grams 

Cione Play­ground, at Le­high and Ara­mingo av­en­ues, will host sev­er­al pro­grams: after school pro­gram, ages 5 to 12, Monday through Fri­day; tum­bling and gym­nastics, ages 4 and up, Monday through  Wed­nes­days; dance, ages 3 to 13, Thursday through Sat­urday.
