Parx Casino and Parx Racing at 2999 Street Road in Bensalem invites runners, walkers and their supporters to take part in the second annual Octoberfest 5K to benefit the Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health. Participants will run on the legendary Pennsylvania horse track on Saturday, Oct. 12, for a truly meaningful cause.
The Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit and think tank regarded worldwide in the advancement of breast and prostate cancer research and treatment. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Parx is dedicated to raising awareness about early detection for breast cancer, along with the funds to help organizations like FBPH.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m., registered runners will traverse the perimeter of the casino and racetrack grounds before completing the course with one lap of the Parx racetrack. Track announcer Keith Jones will call the action. There will also be a one-mile Fun Walk starting at 9:30 a.m. Both events will be filmed and televised live on the track’s giant closed-circuit screens for runners’ families and friends to watch.
Parx will award cash wagering vouchers and trophies to the first three finishers in each adult division. Gift cards will be awarded to the top three in each kids’ division. Registration may be completed online at runtheday.com by searching for “Parx” in the race listings. On-site registration starts at 8 a.m. For information about Foundation for Breast and Prostate Health, visit www.fbph.com ••
