Out­door film at Penn Treaty Park

A fam­ily film screen­ing will be held at Penn Treaty Park on Fri­day, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. “The Amaz­ing Spider Man” will be shown. Penn Treaty Park is loc­ated at Delaware Av­en­ue and Marl­bor­ough Street. •• 

Le­high Av­en­ue Arts Fest­iv­al

The sixth an­nu­al Le­high Av­en­ue Arts Fest­iv­al will take place Sat­urday, Sept. 14 from noon to 8 p.m. The fest­iv­al is Port­side Arts Cen­ter’s biggest schol­ar­ship fun­drais­ing event of the year.  

En­joy arts and crafts vendors, loc­al food trucks, live mu­sic, raffles and more. The event will take place on the 2400 block of E. Le­high Ave. vis­it le­highav­en­uearts­fest­iv­al.org for more in­form­a­tion. ••

Port Rich­mond Second Sat­urday

The next Port Rich­mond Second Sat­urdays event will take place on Sept. 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. on the 3100 block of Rich­mond Street. This com­munity street fest­iv­al will fea­ture food trucks, loc­al per­formers, mu­sic, a clas­sic car show, as well as ar­tis­an vendors from our loc­ally owned small busi­nesses. Cecily Tyn­an, met­eor­o­lo­gist from 6ABC/WPVI Tele­vi­sion sta­tion, will be our spe­cial guest pos­ing for pho­tos and sign­ing auto­graphs.

Activ­it­ies will be loc­ated on the re­vital­ized Rich­mond Street from Al­legheny Av­en­ue to E. Clear­field St. Vis­it the event on Face­book at www.face­book.com/portrich­mond­second­sat­urdays for more de­tails on per­formers and vendors that will be at the event. ••

Neigh­bor­hood FORK bike tour

Join a group of your neigh­bors for a free bike ride that high­lights neigh­bor­hood de­vel­op­ment and his­tory, helps new cyc­lists get com­fort­able bik­ing, and ex­poses you to some of the awe­some new and old busi­nesses in our neigh­bor­hood.

24th Po­lice Dis­trict Golf Out­ing

The 24th Po­lice Dis­trict Ad­vis­ory Coun­cil is hold­ing its first an­nu­al golf out­ing at the Ju­ni­ata Golf Course on Fri­day, Sept. 20, with a shot­gun start at 10 a.m. Pro­ceeds will go to­ward pro­mot­ing pro­grams that make the neigh­bor­hood a bet­ter and safer place to live. Entry fee is $75, in­cludes golf cart, green fees, light break­fast and lunch. Frank Glav­in Play­ground up­dates

Glav­in is ac­cept­ing ap­plic­a­tions for grade school stu­dents to be en­rolled in the “After School Cares” pro­gram. It is also of­fer­ing Zumba classes on Tues­day even­ings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $4 per class, pay­able on the night of in­struc­tion. The next flea mar­ket is planned for Sat­urday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A dona­tion of $10 per set-up will be col­lec­ted day of event.  Vendors must sup­ply their own table. Port Rich­mond Cross­Fit char­ity event

Cross­Fit Renais­sance, 3668 Sal­mon St., will be host­ing a char­ity event on Sat­urday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. A workout and a BBQ will be held, with all pro­ceeds go­ing to Steve’s Club, an or­gan­iz­a­tion that helps young­er kids get off the streets through fit­ness. Civil War me­mori­al un­veil­ing

On Sunday, Sept. 29, a monu­ment will be ded­ic­ated to the memory of the Will­ingmyre broth­ers, five Fishtown men who all fought in the Civil War. Two of the broth­ers died while fight­ing in the war for the Uni­on. The monu­ment will be un­veiled at Palmer Cemetery, at Mem­ph­is and Palmer Streets.
