Mugger beats elderly man in Frankford

A strong-arm rob­ber bru­tally beat an 82-year-old man on a Frank­ford street corner in broad day­light last week.

The at­tack oc­curred on the 5100 block of Griscom St. at 9:50 a.m. on Sept. 3. The vic­tim was walk­ing to­ward Dyre Street when the un­known as­sail­ant ap­proached him, sprayed his face with mace and punched him un­til he fell to the ground. The rob­ber took an un­dis­closed amount of cash from the vic­tim and walked east along a SEPTA ac­cess road to­ward the 5100 block of Frank­ford Ave.

Po­lice did not re­lease in­form­a­tion about the vic­tim’s phys­ic­al con­di­tion. The rob­ber was de­scribed as black, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall and about 250 pounds.
