O’Neill urges seniors to get taxes frozen

City Coun­cil­man Bri­an O’Neill (R-10th dist.) an­nounced that the De­part­ment  of Rev­en­ue is  ac­cept­ing seni­or cit­izen real es­tate tax freeze ap­plic­a­tions.

Seni­or cit­izens with less than $23,500 and couples with less than $31,500 in in­come (from all sources) for 2012 may be eli­gible for an ex­emp­tion from any fu­ture in­crease in real es­tate taxes.

The due date for the ap­plic­a­tion is Oct. 15. For ques­tions about the pro­gram or as­sist­ance in filling out the ap­plic­a­tion, con­tact one of O’Neill’s three of­fices, in­clud­ing his new full-time neigh­bor­hood of­fice at the Fraternal Or­der of Po­lice Lodge 5 “Her­oes Hall” headquar­ters build­ing at 11630 Car­oline Road (215-437-9167). He also has a neigh­bor­hood of­fice at Bustleton Av­en­ue and Bowl­er Street, above the 7th Po­lice Dis­trict (215-685-0432), and a City Hall of­fice (215-686-3422). ••
