Kens­ing­ton Com­munity Food Co-op mem­ber drive

KCFC is start­ing a “60 in 60” cam­paign to get 60 new mem­bers in 60 days, to reach 400 mem­bers by Dec. 1 and help the co-op open a new gro­cery store. 

Big events in­clude: a Happy Hour to­night from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bottle Bar East, 1308 Frank­ford Ave. The bar will donate $1 from each drink sale; a meet and greet at Pizza Brain/Little Baby’s, 2311/2313 Frank­ford Ave., on Nov. 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; an “Eat and Greet” on Nov. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ad­orn Boutique, 1314 Frank­ford Ave. For more in­form­a­tion, vis­it kcfc.coop. ••

NK­CDC e-re­cyc­ling event

The New Kens­ing­ton Com­munity De­vel­op­ment Cor­por­a­tion at Frank­ford and Berks will be ac­cept­ing used elec­tron­ics for re­cyc­ling on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. Com­puters, cell phones, bat­ter­ies and oth­er ap­pli­ances will be ac­cep­ted. Great Fishtown Spelling Bee

The 12th an­nu­al Great Fishtown Spelling Bee is set for Fri­day, Oct. 25 at 3:30 p.m., at Shissler Rec. Cen­ter. The com­pet­i­tion is open to stu­dents from grades 2-8.  As al­ways, the com­pet­i­tion is free and open to any stu­dent from any school in Phil­adelphia. ••

Girl Scouts haunted house

The Girl Scouts and Ad­vis­ory Coun­cil in­vite you to walk through their “Haunted House” at Frank Glav­in Play­ground, 2600 West­mo­re­land St.

Vi­et­nam Vets Candle Ce­re­mony

Vi­et­nam Vet­er­ans of Amer­ica Liberty Bell Chapter 266 will host a candle­light name-read­ing ce­re­mony at the Phil­adelphia Vi­et­nam Vet­er­ans Me­mori­al at Penns Land­ing to hon­or and re­mem­ber the 646 men from Phil­adelphia who died in Vi­et­nam. The ce­re­mony will take place on Fri­day, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m., rain or shine. ••

Hal­loween at Brides­burg Rec.

St. Anne’s bingo 

En­joy a smoke-free bingo game in the St. Anne’s so­cial hall with a full kit­chen. There are two pro­gress­ive jack­pots each week. The total prizes awar­ded each week are over $3,000.

Com­puter classes at LSH

Luther­an Set­tle­ment House is now of­fer­ing free com­puter classes. Be­gin­ner classes are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursdays, in­ter­me­di­ate classes are from 12 to 3 p.m., and the “Job Read­i­ness” class is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wed­nes­days.
