Police seek smash-and-grab serial burglar

Police are trying to identify a smash-and-grab burglar who may be responsible for a dozen burglaries of Northeast businesses since Oct. 4.

In each case, the crook accessed the unoccupied shops by shattering glass in the front door with a rock, brick or unknown object. Most of the crimes have occurred in the pre-dawn morning hours.

The spree began on Oct. 4 at the Cricket phone store on the 6500 block of Frankford Ave. and continued with the following locations and dates: Verree Mini Market, 7900 Verree Road, on Oct. 11; Solly Pizza, 8100 Bustleton Ave., on Oct. 13; Big Daddy Pizza, 1900 Welsh Road, on Oct. 13; DT Nails & Spa, 15500 Bustleton Ave., on Oct. 13; Bob’s Hair Design, 7900 Dungan Road, on Oct. 15; Verree Express Pizza, 7900 Verree Road, on Oct. 15; Dog Grooming Zone, 7700 Castor Ave., on Oct. 16; Extra Video store, 9400 State Road, on Oct. 18; Al Sham Restaurant, 6700 Bustleton Ave., on Oct. 18; №1 China Restaurant, 3300 Grant Ave., on Oct. 18; and Radio Shack, 6400 Sackett St., on Oct. 20.

The burglar has been seen operating a white Pontiac with tinted windows and a black Hyundai Santa Fe. He was described as white, 30 years old and 6 feet tall. He has been seen wearing blue pants or sweatpants, a blue sweatshirt, a gray sweatshirt, a black or dark baseball cap with a white design and tan boots.
