Elderly NE man nabbed in prostitution sting

An 83-year-old Bustleton man was among 17 al­leged “Johns” roun­ded up by Phil­adelphia po­lice in pros­ti­tu­tion stings throughout the city last week.

Adam Her­bert, 83, of the 9700 block of Cowden St., al­legedly offered to pay cash to a would-be hook­er in ex­change for sex shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 at an un­dis­closed loc­a­tion in the city. The street­walk­er was ac­tu­ally an un­der­cov­er cop, who ar­res­ted Her­bert on the spot.

The po­lice de­part­ment’s City­wide Vice Unit set up sim­il­ar stings on Oct. 8, 9 and 11 in the North­east’s 15th Po­lice Dis­trict, the 24th and 26th dis­tricts in the River Wards and the 3rd dis­trict in South Philly.

Two oth­er North­east men were among those ar­res­ted: Donny Scott, 34, of the 1200 block of Friend­ship St. in Castor Gar­dens; and Sad­at Tyr­one Far­low, 29, of the 500 block of Magee Ave. in Lawndale.

Po­lice seized $4,849 cash from the men, along with sev­en auto­mo­biles and two bi­cycles. ••
