Mayfair-Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade is Nov. 24

The May­fair Busi­ness As­so­ci­ation will present the 37th an­nu­al May­fair-Holmes­burg Thanks­giv­ing Parade on Sunday, Nov. 24, along Frank­ford Av­en­ue. The parade will start at noon at Rhawn Street. It will pro­ceed south to Knorr Street. The per­form­ing area will be at Tu­dor Street.

The theme will be Dressed for Suc­cess. The grand mar­shals will be Domen­ico and Angie Maglio, of Domen­ico Form­al Wear and Dress Up Time. 

The rain date is Dec. 1.

The parade will in­clude march­ing bands, an­tique and clas­sic cars, cheer­lead­ers and ap­pear­ances by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

In oth­er neigh­bor­hood news, three win­ners were an­nounced in the first May­fair Hal­loween Dec­or­a­tion Con­test.

Win­ners of the “most boo-ti­ful houses in May­fair” were the Kennedy fam­ily, of the 3500 block of Oak­mont St.; the Rosen fam­ily, of the 3100 block of St. Vin­cent St.; and the Buszka fam­ily, of the 3200 block of Friend­ship St.

Donat­ing prizes were Tor­res­dale Flower Shop, Aztec Signs, May­fair Shop n Bag, Grey Lodge Pub, RE/MAX East­ern Re­altor Maria Zi­m­mer­man, Malibu Beach Tan­ning Salon, Viriva Com­munity Cred­it Uni­on, Mike Perzel In­sur­ance Agency and Bel­laL­isa Hair Stu­dio.

The win­ners were vis­ited by May­fair Civic As­so­ci­ation pres­id­ent Donny Smith, vice pres­id­ent Kev­in Le­onard and con­test judges.

Next up is the May­fair Christ­mas Dec­or­a­tion Con­test. Also, the busi­ness as­so­ci­ation will hold its an­nu­al Christ­mas tree-light­ing ce­re­mony on Sunday, Dec. 8, out­side Re­pub­lic Bank, at 7300 Frank­ford Ave. The May­fair Busi­ness As­so­ci­ation will meet again on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at Re­pub­lic Bank. ••
