Philadelphia police and the FBI believe that the same unidentified man has attempted to rob banks in the Northeast and in Bridesburg in recent weeks.
The latest attempt occurred last Friday at the Bank of America, 2439 Welsh Road, when the subject entered the branch at about 11:35 a.m. and handed a note to a teller. He eventually fled the bank without obtaining money, the FBI said. On the previous Saturday, May 18, the same man robbed the Citizens Bank at 2702 Kirkbride St. in Bridesburg, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Authorities have described the suspect as white, 25 to 30 years old and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build, a blond moustache, goatee beard and tattoos on both sides of his neck. He wore a gray baseball cap in the latest incident, along with a Navy blue hoodie with a zipper and “NIKE” across the chest. He also wore blue jeans, white sneakers and clear surgical gloves. In the earlier incident, he wore a green knitted cap with “Irish” on it.
The robber is considered armed and dangerous. Call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or police at 215-686-TIPS, or text police at “PPD TIP” to report information about the case. ••
