Revitalizing Pleasant Hill

Pleasant Hill Park is looking as good as ever after several dozen volunteers from RBC Wealth Management spent a recent Saturday morning revitalizing the grounds.

The company, based at 1 Logan Square, made a $15,000 donation to the Fairmount Park Conservancy.

Employees and their family and friends traveled to the park, at 8900 N. Delaware Ave. in East Torresdale, to paint benches, make plantings and clean debris. They all wore T-shirts that read, “RBC Wealth Management Volunteer Day 2013.”

Kathryn Ott Lovell, executive director of the Conservancy, called RBS a “great corporate institution.”

“We’re just incredibly grateful,” she said.

Scott Ceniccola, senior managing director for the company’s Philadelphia office, was among the participants. Dee Davis, a Rhawnhurst resident and RBC client associate, coordinated the company’s volunteer service day.

Jackie Olson, volunteer coordinator for the city Department of Parks and Recreation, oversaw the activity.

The landscape beautification included new banners and more than 800 plantings. The pond will be restocked with some 1,000 fish.

The bathrooms were “almost unusable,” Lovell said, but now have freshly painted walls and new doors and flooring. ••
