PRO­PAC/PRTW to meet
PRO­PAC (Port Rich­mond on Patrol and Civic) and PRTW (Port Rich­mond Town Watch) will hold its monthly meet­ing on Thursday, March 7th.  All meet­ings be­gin at 7 p.m. at Samuel’s Re­cre­ation Cen­ter,  Gaul & Tioga Streets. Meet­ings are now held the first Thursday of every month. ••

Frank Glav­in tot pro­gram
On Thursday, March 7, from 6 to 7 p.m., sign your child up for the Frank Glav­in Play­ground’s tot pro­gram. All chil­dren must be able to handle their own bath­room needs; no pull-up di­apers. For the 3-year-old class, child must be 3 by Dec. 31, 2013. For the 4-year-old class, child must be 4 by Dec. 31, 2013. Brides­burg His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety talk
The next meet­ing of the Brides­burg His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety will be held on Wed­nes­day, March  13, at 7:30 p.m, at  All Saints’ Mari­an Hall, on the north­w­est corner of  Ed­ge­mont and Bucki­us streets. Dav­id Szew­czyk will talk on the found­ing of the Frank­ford Ar­sen­al in 1816 and its early dec­ades up to the end of the Civil War. Ladies of Port Rich­mond fun­draiser
Join the Ladies of Port Rich­mond Fri­day, March 15 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. for a night of fe­male em­power­ment, well­ness, wine and cheese. East­er candy at Beth­esda United
Beth­esda United Meth­od­ist Church, 2820 E. Ven­ango St., will sell homemade East­er candy on Sat­urday, March 23, and Sat­urday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.

Fishtown chili cook-off
The Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation is host­ing its third an­nu­al Chili Cook-off on Sunday, March 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 2424 Stu­di­os, 2424 E. York St. Ten am­a­teur Fishtown con­test­ants will be joined by entries from last year’ win­ners, Loco Pez, as well as Sketch Bur­ger, Bar­cade, East Gir­ard Gast­rop­ub, In­ter­state Draft­house, Fishtown Tav­ern, Ce­dar Point Bar & Kit­chen, Lloyd, and more. Beer gen­er­ously provided by Phil­adelphia Brew­ing Com­pany and Ne­sham­iny Creek Brew­ing Com­pany. Come and cast your vote for the best pro­fes­sion­al and people’s choice win­ner along­side Drew Lazor (pree­m­in­ent food blog­ger), Wendy Rollins (Ra­dio 104.5) and oth­er sur­prise judges. Ad­mis­sion is $15, tick­ets can be pur­chased in ad­vance (via Payp­al at www.fishtown.org) or at the door. FNA pint glasses are avail­able with ad­vance pur­chase for only $3. The Brides­burg Re­cre­ation Cen­ter, 4625 Rich­mond St., will of­fer spring­time, com­mu­nion or gradu­ation pho­tos for fam­il­ies or in­di­vidu­als on March 12 and 13. Zom­bies’ Base­ball Club seeks play­ers
The Zom­bies, a men’s base­ball team that plays in the New Jer­sey In­de­pend­ent Base­ball league, is look­ing for play­ers 18 and over for the 2013 sea­son. Games are played Sunday morn­ings in April and are nine in­nings us­ing wood bats. Most of the cur­rent team com­prises play­ers from Fishtown, Port Rich­mond and the North­east. Brides­burg Cou­gars cheer­lead­ing signups
