Letters to the Editor (March 20, 2013)

Has everyone governing air travel gone berserk?

A pocketknife with a 2 1/3-inch blade will be allowed on board, according to David Castelveter, spokesman for the federal Transportation Security Administration.

Yet, it was box cutters with even smaller blades that were used to commit murders aboard the doomed airplanes on 9/11.

This genius from the TSA claims that since pilots are now armed and flight attendants are skilled in self-defense, we’re all safe and there’s no danger to having people with knives.

The pilots’ and flight attendants’ unions, however, do not agree, and are totally against this ludicrous notion.

Are Ray LaHood, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, or Janet Napolitano, secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, aware of this plot to undermine all the precautions that we have reluctantly grown accustomed to over the last 12 years?

And is the president tuned in?

We have been subjected to the most outrageous invasions of our privacy by these fools in uniforms at TSA all this time, and now they’re reversing their policy.

They should be locked up. Shame on all of them, from the president on down to this idiot, Castelveter, for the total lack of respect for all those who died at the hands of those thugs.

If it were about expediency while maintaining safety, we may all be in agreement.

We are thoroughly disgusted by you fools at TSA.
