City to hold information session tomorrow night on property taxes

Th ses­sion on the new prop­erty tax as­sess­ments will be held at Arch­bish­op Ry­an High School from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.

City gov­ern­ment staffers will be at Arch­bish­op Ry­an High School, 11201 Academy Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, for a one-on-one, “drop-in” out­reach ses­sion to help res­id­ents un­der­stand the new prop­erty tax as­sess­ment pro­gram —  Ac­tu­al Value Ini­ti­at­ive — and how it might af­fect them.

Res­id­ents can learn how to ap­ply for the Homestead Ex­emp­tion, how to read their As­sess­ment Change No­tice and how to com­plete their First Level Re­view re­quest form.  Res­id­ents should bring their As­sess­ment Change No­tice, Homestead Ex­emp­tion form and First Level Re­view form, which were mailed to res­id­ents be­gin­ning Feb. 15.  In­form­a­tion will also be avail­able on oth­er tax-re­lief pro­grams. For more in­form­a­tion about AVI, prop­erty own­ers can call the Of­fice of Prop­erty As­sess­ment hot­line at 215-686-9200 or go online to www.phila.gov/opa.
