Four St. Martin of Tours pupils given scholarships

The Danny Craige Found­a­tion earli­er this month presen­ted four schol­ar­ships at the St. Mar­tin of Tours Ele­ment­ary School gradu­ation awards ce­re­mony.

The schol­ar­ship win­ners were:

• Emily Cruz-Pineda, who re­ceived $2,500 to­ward tu­ition at Little Flower High School.

• Wil­li­am Trimarco, who re­ceived $1,500 to­ward school­ing at Fath­er Judge.

• Emily Cole­man, a fu­ture Little Flower stu­dent who re­ceived $1,500.

• Vi Pham, who re­ceived $1,000 for her stud­ies at St. Hubert.

Mem­bers of the Craige fam­ily at­ten­ded the ce­re­mony, which took place on June 12 at the church, at 5450 Roosevelt Blvd. in Ox­ford Circle.

Danny Craige was a St. Mar­tin’s gradu­ate who died of eso­pha­geal can­cer in 2006 at age 56. He was a long­time coach, in­clud­ing stints dir­ect­ing foot­ball teams at Frank­ford Boys Club and bas­ket­ball teams at St. Mar­tin’s.

Craige’s fam­ily and the St. Bede the Ven­er­able CYO cre­ated the found­a­tion in his memory.

The found­a­tion also provided schol­ar­ships to four re­cent gradu­ates of St. Bede, loc­ated in Hol­land, Bucks County.

That school’s schol­ar­ship win­ners and their fu­ture high schools are: Mar­isa Mor­ano (Villa Joseph Mar­ie), Olivia Eife (Villa Joseph Mar­ie), John Nowicke (Arch­bish­op Wood) and Thomas Caw­ley (La Salle).

The found­a­tion will hold a golf fun­draiser on Sept. 16 at North Hills Coun­try Club.
