Port Rich­mond Com­munity Group to meet

PRCG will meet Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m., at Our Lady Help of Chris­ti­ans’ church hall base­ment, on Al­legheny Av­en­ue at Gaul Street. Guests will in­clude John Taylor, Mark Squilla, the Ara­mingo Busi­ness As­so­ci­ation and the Kin­tock Group. Garden­ing work­shop at Greens­grow

On Sat­urday, June 29, from noon to 2 p.m., learn how to make a ver­tic­al garden us­ing pal­lets. The a-frame meth­od al­lows you to use lim­ited grow­ing space ef­fi­ciently.

Zumba at Brides­burg Rec.

En­joy a Zumba workout class for adults at the Brides­burg Rec., 4625 Rich­mond St., on Monday, Wed­nes­days and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $4 per class in an air-con­di­tioned room. ••

Kids sum­mer pro­grams at Brides­burg Rec.

Day camp/ex­ten­ded camp for boys and girls, kinder­garten through 6th grade (young­er than 12), will be offered from Monday, Ju­ly 22 to Fri­day, Au­gust 16, Monday through Fri­day.

Fishtown Win­dow­box Con­test

The 2013 Eva Ru­bin Me­mori­al Win­dow Box and Plant­er Con­test is tak­ing place.

Sponsored by the Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation’s  Beau­ti­fic­a­tion Com­mit­tee, the Win­dow Box and Plant­er Con­test re­wards Fishtown res­id­ents for their con­tri­bu­tions to a green­er city and gives them a chance to com­pete for prizes.

Free sci­ence class in Fishtown

Glaxo­S­mithK­line is of­fer­ing stu­dents in grades 2 through 6 from Fishtown a chance to learn about sci­ence this sum­mer.

The class in chem­istry will be offered Tues­day and Thursday, Ju­ly 2 and 3, at the Fishtown branch of the Phil­adelphia Free Lib­rary, 1217 E. Mont­gomery Ave. This is a free pro­gram, and spots are still avail­able.

Fam­ily events at Penn Treaty Park

The Friends of Penn Treaty Park are host­ing a movie night on Tues­day, Ju­ly 9 at 7 p.m. and will show “The Amaz­ing Spider Man.” On Sat­urday and Sunday, Ju­ly 13 and 14, The Walk­ing Fish Theatre will host the Fam­ily Theatre Series at 7 p.m., at Penn Treaty Park. ••

Brides­burg United Meth­od­ist con­cert

Brides­burg United Meth­od­ist Church, 2717 Kirk­bride St. (between Rich­mond and Thompson streets) will host a sum­mer con­cert and din­ner on Sat­urday, Ju­ly 20 from 6:30 p.m. un­til clos­ing.  Din­ner will con­sist of spa­ghetti and meat­balls, tossed salad, bever­age and dessert, with the con­cert af­ter­wards. Sug­ar­House Sum­mer Food Truck Series

The Sug­ar­House Casino and Phil­adelphia Mo­bile Food As­so­ci­ation have teamed up again this year for the con­tinu­ation of their Sum­mer Food Truck Series.

There will be eight food trucks and two sweets trucks parked in the Sug­ar­House park­ing lot from 6 p.m. un­til 10 p.m. every third Thursday of the month through Septem­ber.

Peg Mc­Cook Sports Tour­na­ment

The Mar­garet “Peg” Mc­Cook sports tour­na­ment will be held Ju­ly 19, 20, and 21 at Cione Play­ground (Le­high and Ara­mingo av­en­ues) and Co­hox Play­ground (Ce­dar and Cam­bria streets). Pro­ceeds be­ne­fit the Amer­ic­an Can­cer So­ci­ety and schol­ar­ships for stu­dents.

Events, with re­gis­tra­tion costs, in­clude men’s and wo­men’s soft­ball, bas­ket­ball and soc­cer ($125 each), youth soc­cer ($100), youth bas­ket­ball ($75), a 5K run on Ju­ly 20 ($30), and horse­shoes ($25 per throw­er). Fall hockey at Cione Play­ground

Cione Play­ground is now tak­ing re­gis­tra­tion for the fall hockey leagues for play­ers ages 9 through 17. A $10 re­gis­tra­tion fee in­cludes a shirt, ref­er­ee and trophy fees. Both roller and foot hockey are avail­able.

Play­ers are re­spons­ible for their own equip­ment and hel­met. Re­gis­tra­tion con­tin­ues un­til Au­gust 27 and league play will be­gin the week of Septem­ber 9. There is also an adult di­vi­sion. Han­cock Rec. sum­mer day camp

Han­cock Re­cre­ation Cen­ter is cur­rently ac­cept­ing ap­plic­a­tions for its Sum­mer Day Camp 2013, for ages 5 to 12.  Camp will be­gin Monday, Ju­ly 1 through Au­gust 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Break­fast and lunch will be served.

Games, arts and crafts, weekly trips, swim­ming and much more will be avail­able. Re­gis­tra­tion fee is $25, and the full six-week camp is $150. The second an­nu­al North Cath­ol­ic “Norphans Day” re­union will be held at Keen­an’s Ir­ish Pub in North Wild­wood, N.J. on Sat­urday, Ju­ly 27, from 3 to 7 p.m.  Ad­mis­sion is $25 ($30 at the door) and in­cludes bottled beer, food and live en­ter­tain­ment fea­tur­ing Mas­quer­ade.
