FNA up­dates/Meet the Neigh­bors

The Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation’s June gen­er­al mem­ber­ship meet­ing (pre­vi­ously sched­uled for Thursday, June 20) is can­celled to en­cour­age at­tend­ance at the FNA’s “Meet the Neigh­bors” event the next day, on Fri­day, June 21. 

Join your Fishtown neigh­bors from 6 to 9 p.m. Fri­day at the Garden Cen­ter, at Berks Street and Frank­ford Av­en­ue. There is a sug­ges­ted dona­tion of $10 for drinks, food, raffles and more. ••

Book launch for loc­al au­thor

Ken­neth W. Mil­ano, au­thor of “The Phil­adelphia Natav­ist Ri­ots: Ir­ish Kens­ing­ton Erupts,” will host a talk and book sign­ing on Thursday, June 20, be­gin­ning at 5:30 p.m., at St. Mi­chael’s church, 2nd and Jef­fer­son streets. The launch is sponsored by the church and His­tory Press.

Port Rich­mond Ti­gers’ Flap­jack Day

The Port Rich­mond Ti­gers are host­ing a flap­jack break­fast at Ap­ple­bee’s in Port Rich­mond, 2535 Castor Ave., on Sat­urday, June 22 from 8 to 10 a.m. Come sup­port your neigh­bor­hood kids.

Cab­aret fun­draiser at Walk­ing Fish

The Walk­ing Fish Theatre is hold­ing a sea­son-end­ing cab­aret fun­draiser on Sat­urday, June 22, at 8 p.m. Tick­ets are $25 and in­clude bever­ages. Per­form­ances in­clude cab­aret singing, bur­lesque num­bers, com­edy, clas­sic­al mu­si­cians and more. Raffle will be held. Flap­jack fun­draiser for Aut­ism Speaks

Come help sup­port Aut­ism Speaks and eat un­lim­ited pan­cakes at the same time. Adults cost $7, kids cost $5. This fun­draiser will take place on Sat­urday, June 22, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Ap­ple­bee’s, 2501 Ara­mingo Ave. En­joy un­lim­ited pan­cakes, link saus­age and a bever­age.

Zumba at Brides­burg Rec.

En­joy a Zumba workout class for adults at the Brides­burg Rec., 4625 Rich­mond St., on Monday, Wed­nes­days and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $4 per class in an air-con­di­tioned room. This class be­gins Monday, June 24 for the sum­mer sea­son. ••

Liberti church kids’ camp

Liberti church east will be host­ing its sixth an­nu­al kids’ camp, “Life Nights,” four days of fun even­ings where kids (6-12 years old) can come to liberti to do a craft, play a game, and do oth­er activ­it­ies.

Kids sum­mer pro­grams at Brides­burg Rec

Kinder Kamp be­gins June 25 for boys and girls aged 2, 3, and 4 years old as of Sept. 1, 2013. Camp is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Cost: $110 for two four-week ses­sions.

Day camp/ex­ten­ded camp for boys and girls, kinder­garten through 6th grade (young­er than 12), will be offered from Monday, Ju­ly 22 to Fri­day, Au­gust 16, Monday through Fri­day. Day camp: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., cost: $180. Ex­ten­ded camp; 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., cost: $180.

Mu­sic mara­thon at St. Jude’s

Fishtown Win­dow­box Con­test

The 2013 Eva Ru­bin Me­mori­al Win­dow Box and Plant­er Con­test is here. Sponsored by the FNA Beau­ti­fic­a­tion Com­mit­tee, the Win­dow Box and Plant­er Con­test re­wards Fishtown res­id­ents for their con­tri­bu­tions to a green­er city and gives them a chance to com­pete for prizes.

June pro­grams at the Fishtown Lib­rary

The lib­rary, 1217 E. Mont­gomery Ave., is hold­ing sev­er­al events throughout June. On Thursday, June 20, from 4:15 to 6 p.m., en­joy the movie “Tangled.” For school-age stu­dents. 

On Monday, June 24, from 2 to 3 p.m., vis­it the lib­rary for a ba­sic yoga class for teens. Wear com­fort­able cloth­ing and bring a mat or tow­el. For teen­agers en­ter­ing grades 7-12. 

On Tues­day, June 25 from 2 to 3 p.m., join the lib­rary as it starts off its sum­mer read­ing pro­gram with the Phil­lie Phanat­ic. Meet the Phanat­ic, sign up for sum­mer read­ing, and en­joy prizes and spe­cial treats.

Fall hockey at Cione Play­ground

Cione Play­ground is now tak­ing re­gis­tra­tion for the fall hockey leagues for play­ers ages 9 through 17. A $10 re­gis­tra­tion fee in­cludes a shirt, ref­er­ee and trophy fees. Both roller and foot hockey are avail­able. 

Play­ers are re­spons­ible for their own equip­ment and hel­met. Re­gis­tra­tion con­tin­ues un­til Au­gust 27 and league play will be­gin the week of Septem­ber 9. There is also an adult di­vi­sion.

Han­cock Rec. sum­mer day camp

Han­cock Re­cre­ation Cen­ter is cur­rently ac­cept­ing ap­plic­a­tions for its Sum­mer Day Camp 2013, for ages 5 to 12.  Camp will be­gin Monday, Ju­ly 1 through Au­gust 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Break­fast and lunch will be served.

Games, arts and crafts, weekly trips, swim­ming and much more will be avail­able. Re­gis­tra­tion fee is $25, and the full six-week camp is $150.
