Penn Treaty Park events

The Friends of Penn Treaty Park in­vite you to Movie In The Park night to­night at 7 p.m., to see “Thun­der­struck.” This film is rated PG, so bring the en­tire fam­ily to this story of about a bas­ket­ball star who switches tal­ent with a klutzy 16-year-old fan. 

The Friends of Penn Treaty Park also in­vite you to a present­a­tion of the Port­side Art Cen­ter’s act­ing stu­dents per­form­ing mono­logues on Fri­day, June 14 at 6 p.m., at Penn Treaty Park. •• 

St. George Par­ish sum­mer bazaar 

The St. George an­nu­al bazaar will be held June 13, 14, 15, Thursday through Sat­urday both weeks, be­gin­ning each night at 7 p.m. and run­ning through the even­ing. Homemade foods will be avail­able, with kit­chen spe­cials each night and a beer garden. 

Mum­mers will be join­ing the fest­iv­it­ies for Alumni Night on June 7, with DJs play­ing on vari­ous nights. Loc­a­tion: Saint George’s Par­ish, 2700 E. Ven­ango St. ••

Han­cock Rec. sum­mer day camp

Han­cock Re­cre­ation Cen­ter is cur­rently ac­cept­ing ap­plic­a­tions for its Sum­mer Day Camp 2013, for ages 5 to 12.  Camp will be­gin Monday, Ju­ly 1 through Au­gust 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Break­fast and lunch will be served.

Games, arts and crafts, weekly trips, swim­ming and much more will be avail­able. Port­side Arts Cen­ter Si­lent Auc­tion

You’re in­vited to at­tend Port­side Arts Cen­ter’s si­lent art auc­tion Fri­day, June 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gi­ant Steps Gal­lery, 229 S. 20th St. This fun­draiser will sup­port Por­side’s Mo­bile Arts Ini­ti­at­ive bus; Port­side has de­signed a lay­out which con­verts a 40-foot SEPTA bus in­to a mo­bile arts classroom. The auc­tion will fea­ture art work from Port­side’s tal­en­ted stu­dents and teach­ers. ••

Rock to the Fu­ture rum­mage sale

Rock to the Fu­ture mu­sic school is hold­ing a live mu­sic per­form­ance and rum­mage sale on Sat­urday, June 15 at Garden Vari­ety in North­ern Liber­ties, 900 N 2nd St. (2nd and Pop­lar streets). The rum­mage sale will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the mu­sic per­form­ance from 12 to 4 p.m. Tick­ets to see mu­sic are $5, the rum­mage sale is free for all.

‘Papa Pa­looza’ at NoLibs’ Piazza 

A daylong Fath­er’s Day cel­eb­ra­tion will be held at the Piazza at Schmidt’s in North­ern Liber­ties on Sat­urday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a range of activ­it­ies for fam­il­ies and kids and over 30 vendors. 

Fishtown celebrity Sy­boll will be at Papa Pa­looza or­gan­iz­ing a tod­dler’s anti-bul­ly­ing pledge. Tod­dlers will be in­vited to dip their hands in paint and hand­print the pledge against bul­ly­ing. The Piazza is loc­ated at 1050 N. Han­cock St., NoLibs. All Former Fishtown A.C. soft­ball league play­ers are in­vited to the 3rd An­nu­al Fishtown Soft­ball Clas­sic on Sat­urday, June 15, from noon un­til 7 p.m. at Het­zell’s Field, Thompson Street and Columbia Av­en­ue. The cost is $25 per play­er, which in­cludes a game shirt, food, and drink. There will be two games, the first for the 50 and over guys, fol­lowed by the 30 to 49 year-olds. Book launch for loc­al au­thor

Ken­neth W. Mil­ano, au­thor of “The Phil­adelphia Natav­ist Ri­ots: Ir­ish Kens­ing­ton Erupts,” will host a talk and book sign­ing on Thursday, June 20, be­gin­ning at 5:30 p.m., at St. Mi­chael’s church, 2nd and Jef­fer­son streets. The launch is sponsored by the church and His­tory Press. There will be an or­gan con­cert and a tour of the church and cemetery be­fore the talk. Flap­jack fun­draiser for Aut­ism Speaks

Kids sum­mer pro­grams at Brides­burg Rec

Kinder Kamp be­gins June 25 for boys and girls aged 2, 3, and 4 years old as of Sept. 1, 2013. Camp is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Cost: $110 for two four-week ses­sions. 

Day camp/ex­ten­ded camp for boys and girls, kinder­garten through 6th grade (young­er than 12), will be offered from Monday, Ju­ly 22 to Fri­day, Au­gust 16, Monday through Fri­day. Day camp: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., cost: $180. Ex­ten­ded camp; 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., cost: $180.
