Cars torched in Somerton lot

Po­lice are in­vest­ig­at­ing a de­lib­er­ately set fire that raced through 24 empty cars in Somer­ton early Tues­day.

The fire mar­shal’s of­fice found the cause of the blaze on the prop­erty of a met­al-fab­ric­at­ing com­pany on the 10000 block of Sand­mey­er Lane to be in­cen­di­ary, Ex­ec­ut­ive Fire Chief Richard Dav­is­on said Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon.

Fire­fight­ers got the call to go to Rhoads In­dus­tries at 3:48 a.m. Tues­day, Dav­is­on said. He said the fire was un­der con­trol by 4:12 a.m. No one was in­jured, he said.

Sand­mey­er Lane in­ter­sects Red Li­on Road and curves next to the old Is­land Green golf course and ends in a cul-de-sac. ••
