Serial Northeast bank robber strikes in Rockledge

A seri­al bank rob­ber struck for the sixth time in two months when he tar­geted a Wells Fargo branch in Rockledge last Wed­nes­day, ac­cord­ing to the FBI.

In­vest­ig­at­ors don’t know the man’s iden­tity, but be­lieve he has robbed two North­east Philly banks, two in Chel­ten­ham Town­ship and an­oth­er in Hunt­ing­don Val­ley since May 15.

Last Wed­nes­day, the rob­ber entered the Wells Fargo at 620 Hunt­ing­don Pike at about 10:17 a.m., an­nounced a rob­bery, ordered em­ploy­ees and pat­rons to raise their hands, poin­ted a small sil­ver hand­gun at a tell­er and de­man­ded money. He ob­tained an un­dis­closed amount of cash and fled on foot. He was last seen scal­ing a fence and run­ning west of the bank through res­id­en­tial yards.

The rob­ber was de­scribed as black or pos­sibly His­pan­ic, between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build. He wore a dark mask or scarf to con­ceal much of his face, along with a gray hooded sweat­shirt with a black Nike logo near the left chest and shoulder area. He also wore dark pants with a yel­low stripe down the sides, off-white gloves and sneak­ers.

The earli­er rob­ber­ies oc­curred at PNC Bank, 6855 Frank­ford Ave., on May 15; Wells Fargo, 6611 Castor Ave., on May 23; Sov­er­eign Bank, 500 Cent­ral Ave., Chel­ten­ham, on May 28 and June 13; and Wells Fargo, 2560 Hunt­ing­don Pike, Hunt­ing­don Val­ley, on June 19.
