Ali Shubbar, Douglas Caristo and Alec Smilowski are the newest Eagle Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 385.
The three were honored at a June 29 Court of Honor ceremony at Troop 385’s home, United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd, at Chalfont Drive and Calera Road in the Far Northeast. Each of them earned at least 21 merit badges, demonstrated Scout spirit and organized and completed a service project.
Ali, of Holmesburg, led the removal of 500-plus feet of old hazardous fencing at Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley.
Doug, of the Far Northeast, installed a large drainage system to alleviate roof drainage water that flowed onto the main entrance walkway at the Church of the Good Shepherd. The water would often freeze in the winter, causing a safety hazard for congregants.
Alec, of Southampton, raised $1,500 and bought supplies for students at Our Lady of Calvary and A.L. FitzPatrick elementary schools. ••
