Mayor skips NE Chamber for a visit to D.C.

Mayor Michael Nutter’s long-planned luncheon with the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce has been postponed.

Nutter was supposed to dine and speak with Chamber members on Thursday.

However, late last week, the mayor’s office informed the Chamber that President Obama had requested that Nutter travel to Washington, D.C., to discuss the issue of assault weapons.

More than 175 people had already bought tickets to the luncheon, and they will either be given a refund or have their reservation moved to the rescheduled date, which is Thursday, March 21 at Knowlton Mansion, at Rhawn Street and Verree Road in Fox Chase.

The Chamber thanks Knowlton owner Jack Conroy for facilitating the switch. ••
