PROPAC/PRTW to meet
PROPAC (Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic) and PRTW (Port Richmond Town Watch) will hold a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 7 at Samuel’s Recreation Center, Gaul and Tioga streets. Meetings are now held the first Thursday of every month. Items of community interest will be discussed, and a representative from the 24th Police District will be in attendance to go over crime stats for the area and answer questions. ••
Kensington Food Co-op celebration
On Monday, Feb. 11, Kensington Community Food Co-op will host a recruitment event at Frankford Hall, 1210 Frankford Ave. The event is focused on “sharing the co-op love.” Frankford Hall will do a German beer tasting class with food pairing for $25, which includes seven beers and food. On Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., the Fishtown Neighbors Association Zoning Committee will discuss 1117 Day St., a proposal for the conversion of a single family home to multifamily. This meeting will take place at the Fishtown Rec. Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave. All residents of Fishtown are eligible to vote. Bridesburg hoagie and soup sale
The Bridesburg United Methodist Church will host a hoagie and homemade soup sale on Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hoagies will consist of American for $3; ham and cheese, turkey and cheese or Italian for $4. Soupes will consist of chicken noodle and vegetable beef barley — $4.50 for a pint, $8 for a quart. You may also eat-in with a bowl of soup, hoagie, drink and dessert for only $5.75. Celebrate the 2013 “One Book, One Philadelphia” event by attending a martial arts workshop and demonstration. The 2013 Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby and the 8th annual Trenton Ave. Arts Festival will take place Saturday, May 18 from noon to 5 p.m. Registration is now open; vendors and artists are wanted to sell their work, and teams are needed to make sculptures to compete in the derby.
