UP­COM­ING EVENTS

PRO­PAC/PRTW to meet
PRO­PAC (Port Rich­mond on Patrol and Civic) and PRTW (Port Rich­mond Town Watch) will hold a meet­ing on Thursday, Feb. 7 at Samuel’s Re­cre­ation Cen­ter,  Gaul and Tioga streets. Meet­ings are now held the first Thursday of every month. Items of com­munity in­terest will be dis­cussed, and a rep­res­ent­at­ive from the 24th Po­lice Dis­trict will be in at­tend­ance to go over crime stats for the area and an­swer ques­tions. ••

Kens­ing­ton Food Co-op cel­eb­ra­tion
On Monday, Feb. 11, Kens­ing­ton Com­munity Food Co-op will host a re­cruit­ment event at Frank­ford Hall, 1210 Frank­ford Ave. The event is fo­cused on “shar­ing the co-op love.” Frank­ford Hall will do a Ger­man beer tast­ing class with food pair­ing for $25, which in­cludes sev­en beers and food.  Entry is free for any­one who joins the food co-op that night, and mem­bers who bring new mem­bers will get $15. Brides­burg spa­ghetti din­ner

Cook-off and brew con­test
On Feb. 10, from noon to 6 p.m., en­joy an end­less sup­ply of homemade chili and home brewed ale. Fif­teen dol­lars will get you in the door. FNA zon­ing meet­ing
On Tues­day, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., the Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation Zon­ing Com­mit­tee will dis­cuss 1117 Day St., a pro­pos­al for the con­ver­sion of a single fam­ily home to mul­ti­fam­ily. This meet­ing will take place at the Fishtown Rec. Cen­ter, 1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave. All res­id­ents of Fishtown are eli­gible to vote. Please bring proof of res­id­ence or busi­ness own­er­ship in the form of a driver’s li­cense or a photo id and a lease, util­ity bill, or re­cent piece of mail ad­dressed to your home or busi­ness. ••

Brides­burg ho­agie and soup sale
The Brides­burg United Meth­od­ist Church will host a ho­agie and homemade soup sale on Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ho­agies will con­sist of Amer­ic­an for $3; ham and cheese, tur­key and cheese or Itali­an for $4. Soupes will con­sist of chick­en noodle and ve­get­able beef bar­ley — $4.50 for a pint, $8 for a quart. You may also eat-in with a bowl of soup, ho­agie, drink and dessert for only $5.75. Mar­tial arts work­shop at Port Rich­mond Lib­rary
Cel­eb­rate the 2013 “One Book, One Phil­adelphia” event by at­tend­ing a mar­tial arts work­shop and demon­stra­tion. On Thursday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m., learn the ba­sics of aikido, a Ja­pan­ese mar­tial art that em­phas­izes flex­ib­il­ity, bal­ance, and tim­ing. Re­gister for Kens­ing­ton Kin­et­ic Sculp­ture Derby and Trenton Ave. Arts Fest­iv­al
The 2013 Kens­ing­ton Kin­et­ic Sculp­ture Derby and the 8th an­nu­al Trenton Ave. Arts Fest­iv­al will take place Sat­urday, May 18 from noon to 5 p.m. Re­gis­tra­tion is now open; vendors and artists are wanted to sell their work, and teams are needed to make sculp­tures to com­pete in the derby. Re­gis­tra­tion in­form­a­tion is avail­able at www.kin­et­ick­ens­ing­ton.org and www.trentonavearts­fest.org. Early re­gis­tra­tion for both events is April 1, fi­nal dead­line is May 1. ••

Ti­ger’s tot bas­ket­ball
