Lawncrest plans for July 4th

The Lawn­crest Com­munity As­so­ci­ation last week wel­comed In­spect­or Mi­chael Co­chrane, com­mand­er of the North­east Po­lice Di­vi­sion, and Carlton Wil­li­ams, com­mis­sion­er of the city De­part­ment of Li­censes and In­spec­tions. Of­fi­cials from the 2nd Po­lice Dis­trict also at­ten­ded the Feb. 19 meet­ing.

Mean­while, the Lawn­crest 4th of Ju­ly Com­mit­tee is plan­ning this year’s cel­eb­ra­tion. Any­one in­ter­ested in vo­lun­teer­ing can call Steve Cartledge at 215-651-8470.

On Sunday, March 3, the Lawn­crest Re­cre­ation Cen­ter Ad­vis­ory Coun­cil will hold a plan­ning meet­ing for a pro­posed com­munity garden. The meet­ing is set for 2 p.m. at Prince of Peace Luther­an Church, at 6001 Col­gate St. The dis­cus­sion will cen­ter on plot lay­out, garden rules, mem­ber­ship and con­struc­tion dates. The School Dis­trict of Phil­adelphia is seek­ing dona­tions for the up­com­ing prom sea­son. The dis­trict is look­ing for styl­ish and clean dresses; slightly worn shoes; and small, dressy purses and hand­bags.
