Brides­burg His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety to meet

The next meet­ing of the Brides­burg His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety will be held to­night, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Mari­an Hall, on the north­w­est corner of Ed­ge­mont and Bucki­us Streets. Boy Scout Troop 11 fun­draiser

The troop needs your sup­port on Thursday, Dec. 12 at Chik Fil A, 2301 E. But­ler St., from 5 to 8 p.m. When pla­cing your or­der, tell them you are there for Troop 11. If you have a boy from 11 to 17-year-old, have him join the troop. The troop meets on Monday nights from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Grace and the In­carn­a­tion Church, Ed­ge­mont and Ven­ango streets. ••

Beef-and-beer for St. Joachim

Wreaths Across Palmer

Please sup­port “Wreaths Across Palmer” on Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. by help­ing hon­or vet­er­ans bur­ied in Palmer Cemetery. St. Mi­chael’s Christ­mas Bazaar

St. Mi­chael’s Luther­an Church, Trenton Av­en­ue and Cum­ber­land St., will have a Christ­mas Bazaar on Sat­urday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. un­til 2 p.m. There will be pic­tures with Santa, baked goods for sale, a Tombola Table, raffles and much more. There will also be a table with anti-bul­ly­ing in­form­a­tion and pledge cards to sign. Please bring a canned good to this event, to sup­port the church’s food antry. ••

Christ­mas car­ols at Penn Treaty

On Sat­urday, Decem­ber 14, at 2 p.m., the singing of Christ­mas car­ols will take lace at Penn Treaty Park. Chil­dren are en­cour­aged to bring hand­made or­na­ments to dec­or­ate the Christ­mas tree. ••

Com­pany B au­di­tions

Sing­ers, dan­cers, act­ors or any­one from ages 8-18 in­ter­ested in be­com­ing a mem­ber of a mu­sic­al theatre groupis in­vited to au­di­tion for Com­pany B’s Spring 2014 sea­son at the Brides­burg Re­cre­ation Cen­ter on Dec. 14. Ju­ni­or Group (ages 8-12) will au­di­tion at 11:30 a.m.; seni­or group (13-18) will au­di­tion at 1 p.m. Come pre­pared to ing a mu­sic­al theatre or movie song. ••

Walk­ing Fish ‘Amer­ic­an Fairy Tales’

B. Brides­burg Rec. Christ­mas drive

Through the Aid for Friends Christ­mas 2013 drive, items for seni­or hut-ins are cur­rently be­ing col­lec­ted at the Brides­burg Re­cre­ation Cen­ter, 4601 Rich­mond St. Sug­ges­ted items in­clude toi­letries, clothes, house­hold items, and cash. Cione Rec. Cen­ter pro­grams

Port Rich­mond Lep­re­chauns sign ups

Bas­ket­ball sign-ups are tak­ing place ow. St. Peter Christ­mas sched­ule

The Na­tion­al Shrine of Saint John Neu­mann at St. Peter the Apostle Ro­man Cath­ol­ic Church, 1019 N. 5th St., will have the fol­low­ing Christ­mas liturgy sched­ule: On Christ­mas Eve, the Arch­dioces­an Boy’s Choir will per­form at 5:30 p.m. in the Up­per Church. At 10 p.m., the choir and or­ches­tra will per­form in the Up­per Church. On Christ­mas Day, litur­gies will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Up­per Church, 11 a.m., in Span­ish, in the Up­per Church, and 12:30 p.m. in the Up­per Church. ••

Activ­it­ies at Brides­burg Rec.

Zumba classes are be­ing held Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 .m. Zumba Ton­ing is on Wed­nes­days. Cost: $4 per class. Scrap book­ing class is Wed­nes­days from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost: $5 per class. Ladies Bowl­ing League meets Tues­days at Erie Lanes at 9 a.m. Cost: $10. There are two spots left in the af­ter­noon class. Child must be 3 as of Sept. 1, and must be potty trained. Tod­dler time is Mondays and Thursdays, noon to 2 .m. Three spots are avail­able in the af­ter­noon class. Child must be 2 as of Sept. 1. ••

Tax help dead­line Jan. 15

The City has cre­ated PHL Tax LOOP (Long­time Own­er Oc­cu­pants Pro­gram) to provide tax re­lief to ease the bur­den for these homeown­ers. If you are ap­proved, your tax bill will e re­duced for 10 years. To get these sav­ings, the city must re­ceive your ap­plic­a­tion by Janu­ary 15, 2014, and you have to meet the re­quire­ments— call 215-686-9200 with ques­tions and vis­it www.phila.gov/loop for more info. If you are not eli­gible for LOOP, you may be eli­gible for oth­er tax re­lief ro­grams. ••

North­east Cath­ol­ic Alumni Me­mori­al Schol­ar­ship Fund

The fund will be ac­cept­ing nom­in­a­tions for tu­ition as­sist­ance grants un­til Jan. 31, 2014. The nom­in­ees must be the chil­dren or grand­chil­dren of dues-pay­ing mem­bers of North­east Cath­ol­ic Alumni As­so­ci­ation, Inc. The fund awards $261,000 in grants each year.
