PRO­PAC and PRTW to meet
PRO­PAC (Port Rich­mond on Patrol and Civic) and PRTW (Port Rich­mond Town Watch) will hold its com­bined monthly meet­ing on Thursday, April 4.

Mark Squilla will be present to dis­cuss and an­swer ques­tions on the AVI with mem­bers. All meet­ings be­gin at 7 p.m. at Samuel’s Re­cre­ation Cen­ter,  Gaul and Tioga streets. Meet­ings are now held the first Thursday of every month. ••

Samuel Re­cre­ation Cen­ter events
Samuel Re­cre­ation Cen­ter is now hold­ing sign-ups for t-ball ages 4 to 7. The league will start Tues­day, April 9. To sign up, please stop by Samuel Re­cre­ation Cen­ter, Gaul and Tioga streets.

Cel­eb­rate at Port­side Arts Cen­ter
When loc­al youth at Port­side Arts Cen­ter were asked what “green­ing” meant to them, they cre­ated beau­ti­ful designs for new tree guards.

With the sup­port of CA Spald­ing, loc­al civic as­so­ci­ations EKNA and ORCA, Kim Creighton at Port­side Arts, Mi­chael Hol­land, who made the met­al guards, and prop­erty own­ers, these stun­ning new streets­cape ele­ments are cur­rently be­ing in­stalled by NK­CDC.

NK­CDC tree giveaway
The New Kens­ing­ton Com­munity De­vel­op­ment Cor­por­a­tion’s (NK­CDC) yard tree giveaway will be on Sunday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NK­CDC’s Garden Cen­ter, 1825 Frank­ford Ave.

Phil­adelphia res­id­en­tial prop­erty own­ers can re­quest up to two trees and com­munity groups that own large private prop­er­ties with com­munity ac­cess can re­gister for up to 10 trees. ••

Up­com­ing FNA zon­ing meet­ings
The Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation’s Zon­ing Com­mit­tee will meet Monday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. re­gard­ing the Wynn casino pro­pos­al. This meet­ing will take place at First Pres­by­teri­an Church, 418 E. Gir­ard Ave.

The com­mit­tee will also meet Tues­day, April 9, at 7 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec. Cen­ter, 1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave., to dis­cuss 2220-22 Sepviva St., and at 7:30, 1318 Berks St. All res­id­ents of Fishtown are eli­gible to vote. ••

Brides­burg His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety to meet
The next meet­ing of the Brides­burg His­tor­ic­al So­ci­ety will be held Wed­nes­day, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Mari­an Hall, on the north­w­est corner of Ed­ge­mont and Bucki­us Streets.

Mo­ve­On.Org has star­ted a loc­al neigh­bor­hood group in the 19125 ZIP code. Mo­ve­On groups will edu­cate about and work on na­tion­al, state and loc­al is­sues in or­der to build a pro­gress­ive base of civic-minded cit­izens con­cerned about good gov­ern­ment and so­cial justice. The next meet­ing will be at the Fishtown Rec. Cen­ter, 1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave. on Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. ••

Our Lady of Port Rich­mond auc­tion
Our Lady of Port Rich­mond will hold an auc­tion on Fri­day, April 12 from 9 a.m. un­til 7:30 p.m. Food will be avail­able for pur­chase start­ing at 5 p.m., and draw­ings for bas­kets will start at 7:30 p.m. Tick­ets are 25 for $5 and can be pur­chased at the auc­tion or in ad­vance through an OL­PR stu­dent.

The auc­tion will be loc­ated in the lower hall of the school 3233 E. Thompson St., and every­one is in­vited to enter through the Ed­ge­mont Street school yard. ••

Frank Glav­in flea mar­ket
Frank Glav­in Play­ground, 2600 West­mo­re­land St., will be hold­ing its spring flea mar­ket on Sat­urday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Set up that morn­ing will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cost per rent­al space is $10 pay­able the day of.  Bring your own table – space in­cludes the width of two ce­ment blocks per vendor.  No food vendors please.  Dir­ect all ques­tions to play­ground staff at 215-685-9898. No rain date. ••

MDG ‘Night at the Races’
Join your neigh­bors at Moth­er of Di­vine Grace, Thompson and Cam­bria streets, for a fun-filled night of en­ter­tain­ment and in­dul­gence on April 13 at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) The night will in­clude games of chance, poker, raffles and oth­er card games. Teams are en­cour­aged to dress in out­rageous thrift shop out­fits and earn tokens to col­lect prizes.

Book sign­ing at Rich­mond Lib­rary
The Rich­mond Lib­rary will present a free au­thor event as part of the Phil­adelphia Book Fest­iv­al. Lee Fish­man, au­thor of “Edge of a Dream,” will sign books and of­fer an au­thor dis­cus­sion on Tues­day, April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Rich­mond Lib­rary, 2987 Al­mond St.

Lee Fish­man worked un­til re­cently as a lib­rar­i­an at the Free Lib­rary. With an in­terest in oth­er cul­tures and cus­toms, Fish­man was in­spired to write the nov­el, “Edge of a Dream,” the story of an im­mig­rant couple who flee a dev­ast­at­ing civil war only to con­front dif­fer­ent chal­lenges as they start a new life in the United States. ••

Palmer Cemetery clean up
Palmer Cemetery in Fishtown, at Palmer and Mem­ph­is streets, will hold its first cleanup of the year on April 20 between 8:30 a.m. and noon. All are wel­come to come out and lend a hand in caring for the his­tor­ic cemetery.

Han­cock base­ball clin­ic
Han­cock Re­cre­ation Cen­ter will be host­ing a base­ball clin­ic for chil­dren ages 7 to 14. The clin­ic will in­clude field­ing, base run­ning, hit­ting, catch­ing, and oth­er ba­sic skills.
