PROPAC and PRTW to meet
PROPAC (Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic) and PRTW (Port Richmond Town Watch) will hold its combined monthly meeting on Thursday, April 4.
Mark Squilla will be present to discuss and answer questions on the AVI with members. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. at Samuel’s Recreation Center, Gaul and Tioga streets. Meetings are now held the first Thursday of every month. ••
Samuel Recreation Center events
Samuel Recreation Center is now holding sign-ups for t-ball ages 4 to 7. The league will start Tuesday, April 9. To sign up, please stop by Samuel Recreation Center, Gaul and Tioga streets.

Celebrate at Portside Arts Center
When local youth at Portside Arts Center were asked what “greening” meant to them, they created beautiful designs for new tree guards.
With the support of CA Spalding, local civic associations EKNA and ORCA, Kim Creighton at Portside Arts, Michael Holland, who made the metal guards, and property owners, these stunning new streetscape elements are currently being installed by NKCDC.

NKCDC tree giveaway
The New Kensington Community Development Corporation’s (NKCDC) yard tree giveaway will be on Sunday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NKCDC’s Garden Center, 1825 Frankford Ave.
Philadelphia residential property owners can request up to two trees and community groups that own large private properties with community access can register for up to 10 trees. ••
Upcoming FNA zoning meetings
The Fishtown Neighbors Association’s Zoning Committee will meet Monday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. regarding the Wynn casino proposal. This meeting will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 418 E. Girard Ave.
The committee will also meet Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec. Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave., to discuss 2220-22 Sepviva St., and at 7:30, 1318 Berks St. All residents of Fishtown are eligible to vote. ••
Bridesburg Historical Society to meet
The next meeting of the Bridesburg Historical Society will be held Wednesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Marian Hall, on the northwest corner of Edgemont and Buckius Streets.

MoveOn.Org has started a local neighborhood group in the 19125 ZIP code. MoveOn groups will educate about and work on national, state and local issues in order to build a progressive base of civic-minded citizens concerned about good government and social justice. Our Lady of Port Richmond auction
Our Lady of Port Richmond will hold an auction on Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Food will be available for purchase starting at 5 p.m., and drawings for baskets will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are 25 for $5 and can be purchased at the auction or in advance through an OLPR student.
The auction will be located in the lower hall of the school 3233 E. Thompson St., and everyone is invited to enter through the Edgemont Street school yard. ••
Frank Glavin flea market
Frank Glavin Playground, 2600 Westmoreland St., will be holding its spring flea market on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Set up that morning will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cost per rental space is $10 payable the day of. Bring your own table – space includes the width of two cement blocks per vendor. No food vendors please. Direct all questions to playground staff at 215-685-9898. No rain date. ••
MDG ‘Night at the Races’
Join your neighbors at Mother of Divine Grace, Thompson and Cambria streets, for a fun-filled night of entertainment and indulgence on April 13 at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) The night will include games of chance, poker, raffles and other card games. Thrift Shop Bar Hop benefit
Taking place in more than 12 Northern Liberties and Fishtown bars, the Thrift Shop Bar Hopwill promote charitable contributons benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. Teams are encouraged to dress in outrageous thrift shop outfits and earn tokens to collect prizes.

Book signing at Richmond Library
The Richmond Library will present a free author event as part of the Philadelphia Book Festival. Lee Fishman, author of “Edge of a Dream,” will sign books and offer an author discussion on Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Richmond Library, 2987 Almond St.
Lee Fishman worked until recently as a librarian at the Free Library. With an interest in other cultures and customs, Fishman was inspired to write the novel, “Edge of a Dream,” the story of an immigrant couple who flee a devastating civil war only to confront different challenges as they start a new life in the United States. ••
Palmer Cemetery clean up
Palmer Cemetery in Fishtown, at Palmer and Memphis streets, will hold its first cleanup of the year on April 20 between 8:30 a.m. and noon. All are welcome to come out and lend a hand in caring for the historic cemetery.

Hancock Recreation Center will be hosting a baseball clinic for children ages 7 to 14. The clinic will include fielding, base running, hitting, catching, and other basic skills.
