St. Lauren­ti­us seeks dona­tions for USO pro­ject
In a USO-sponsored event, the stu­dents of St. Lauren­ti­us School will be as­sem­bling care pack­ages and send­ing them to troops to let them know that even the young­est Amer­ic­an cit­izens are re­mem­ber­ing them and their sac­ri­fices for our coun­try.

The stu­dents have set a goal of send­ing 100 pack­ages to our mil­it­ary. The stu­dents are seek­ing mon­et­ary dona­tions to help with ship­ping costs. Dona­tions will be ac­cep­ted through April 24 at the Saint Lauren­ti­us Rect­ory, 1608 E. Berks St. at Mem­ph­is Street, or at the school. ••

T-Ball with the Ti­gers
Sign-ups now open for girls and boys ages 4 to 6 for T-ball with the Port Rich­mond Ti­gers. The sea­son is about to start. Sign up at the Ti­gers Club­house, Chath­am and Ann streets, Monday through Fri­day 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., or call Tom Mack for more in­form­a­tion at 215-275-8838. ••

FNA to meet
Join the Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation on Thurs., April 18 at 7 p.m. for a “loc­al food round-up” at the Fishtown Rec Cen­ter, 1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave. Lena Helen, Pres­id­ent of the Kens­ing­ton Com­munity Food Co-op, will ad­dress the group.

The NK­CDC will also present on their “farm to fam­il­ies” pro­gram. Gen­er­al Mem­ber­ship Meet­ings are held on the third Thursday of every month at the Rec Cen­ter. ••

Han­cock bas­ket­ball clin­ic
Han­cock Re­cre­ation Cen­ter, in co­ordin­a­tion with Towey, Nel­son and the 8th and Dia­mond Re­cre­ation Cen­ter will be host­ing a in­tra­mur­al bas­ket­ball league. You must at­tend the bas­ket­ball clin­ic that star­ted this Tues­day.

Han­cock will be se­lect­ing play­ers to play in the league from the kids who join the clin­ic.  Ages 12 - 14 starts at 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tues­days and Wed­nes­days, and 15 - 18 starts at 6:30 on the same days. Palmer Cemetery clean up
Palmer Cemetery in Fishtown, at Palmer and Mem­ph­is streets, will hold its first cleanup of the year on April 20 between 8:30 a.m. and noon. Bas­ket­ball clin­ics by Jen Mc­Cook
Big 5 Bas­ket­ball hall of famer and former Temple wo­men’s bas­ket­ball star, Jen Mc­Cook, is go­ing to be run­ning in­di­vidu­al, group and team clin­ics.  In­di­vidu­al clin­ics are be­ing held week­days after school at Samuel Rec. Cen­ter, 3539 Gaul St.  If in­ter­ested please con­tact to set up day and time.

Group clin­ics are avail­able for grades 3-8 and high school be­gin­ning April 22, and will take place at Samuel as well as Co­hox, 2901 Ce­dar St. For spe­cif­ics and times, con­tact Jen Mc­Cook at ric­coj23@aol.com or 267-325-1416.

Story Slam at Liberti East
The third an­nu­al free Story Slam will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Fri­day, April 26, at Liberti Church East, 2424 York St. Come en­joy a night of storytelling and vote on your fa­vor­ite or tell your own story to join the com­pet­i­tion.
