Photo op: Helping bag hunger in the River Wards

Gov­ernor Tom Corbett de­clared Sept. 19 as an of­fi­cial day to help fight hun­ger, and neigh­bors and of­fi­cials throughout the River Wards stood up to lend a hand, in­clud­ing State Rep. John Taylor (R-177th dist.)

Shop­Rite’s “Part­ners In Caring Day” brought in State Rep. John Taylor (R-177th dist., pic­tured) as an “hon­or­ary bag­ger” that af­ter­noon at the store, at 3745 Ara­mingo Ave.

The store ac­cep­ted mon­et­ary dona­tions which will go to­ward loc­al food banks. Shop­Rite Part­ners In Caring has donated $29 mil­lion to loc­al food banks since 1999.

Also present at the event were fire­fight­ers from En­gine 28, 24th Po­lice Dis­trict of­ficers, and Rich Morowski, who donated a $500 check on be­half of labor uni­on AF­SCME Dis­trict Coun­cil 47.
