Cuts for a cause

The 13th an­nu­al Cut for the Cure will take place this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at New Im­age Hair Salon, at 2522 Welsh Road (at Roosevelt Boulevard) in the Tremont Shop­ping Cen­ter.

Own­er John Mc­Don­ald and his staff wel­come men, wo­men and chil­dren to have their hair cut for $15. Pay­ment can be made by cash, cred­it card or per­son­al check.

Pro­ceeds will go to breast can­cer re­search at Fox Chase Can­cer Cen­ter, pro­state can­cer re­search at Johns Hop­kins Uni­versity in Bal­timore and the Vet­er­ans Com­fort House in West Phil­adelphia.

The shop own­er is a pro­state can­cer sur­viv­or. His late wife, Ginny, fought breast can­cer.

The day will also in­clude in­di­vidu­al and fam­ily por­traits for $15. Hats, T-shirts and food (catered and donated by John Di­An­to­nio) will be for sale. There will be raffles for a bas­ket of cheer and five hand-craf­ted Longaber­ger bas­kets.

Oth­er activ­it­ies will in­clude a disc jockey, an­tique cars, a prize-win­ning 1965 Mus­tang race car, kar­ate demon­stra­tions and per­form­ances by a jump rope team and the Sounds of Liberty Barber­shop Quar­tet.

Last year’s be­ne­fit raised al­most $12,000.
