Ma­ter Dol­orosa “Night at the Races”

On Sat­urday, Nov. 3, cel­eb­rate the church’s biggest fun­draiser of the year. Ma­ter Dol­orosa, at 1676 Ru­an St., will host “Night at the Races,” at 6 p.m. at the church hall.

Ad­mis­sion, plus food and drink, is $10. Mass will be at 5 p.m.  There is plenty of park­ing across from the church hall. Call the rect­ory at 215-535-4036 for tick­ets. ••

Pan­cake break­fast

The Brides­burg United Meth­od­ist Church is hold­ing a pan­cake break­fast Nov. 3 from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $7 for adults, $4.50 for chil­dren. Call Joan at 215-941-8873 for tick­ets. The break­fast will be held at Ap­ple­bee’s, 2535-37 Castor Ave. ••

Fish­er­man’s Flea Mar­ket

The Brides­burg Rec. Cen­ter, 4601 Rich­mond St., will be host­ing its first an­nu­al Fish­er­man’s Flea Mar­ket on Sat­urday, Nov. 3, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Space is avail­able for up to 30 vendors, and will be held in the gym­nas­i­um. A vendor’s space will be $25.

There will be no ad­mis­sion fee the day of the event, but there will be raffle tick­ets sold as well as food avail­able for pur­chase.

For any ques­tions, call the Brides­burg Rec. at 215-685-1247. Ask for John. All pro­ceeds will go to­ward the be­ne­fit of youth sum­mer pro­grams at the Rec. Cen­ter. ••

Lithuani­an Muge Fest­iv­al

Come join friends and neigh­bors for two days of food, fun and fest­iv­it­ies as they cel­eb­rate the 35th an­nu­al Lithuani­an Muge Fest­iv­al. 

Fea­tured en­ter­tain­ment in­cludes folk mu­sic by “Varpel­is” and folk dan­cing by “Zilv­i­nas.” Lithuani­an food, drink, crafts, tex­tiles and jew­elry will be avail­able for pur­chase. 

Activ­it­ies in­clude cook­ing demon­stra­tions, raffles, folk dan­cing, chil­dren’s crafts and games and more. The fest­iv­al takes place on Sat­urday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 4, from noon to 6 p.m. Ad­mis­sion for adults is $5, chil­dren are free. The fest­iv­al will take place at the  Lithuani­an Mu­sic Hall, 2715 E. Al­legheny Ave. ••

MDG spa­ghetti sup­per

Join the Moth­er of Diving Grace Par­ish and school for its an­nu­al spa­ghetti sup­per on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the school hall, 2612 E. Mon­mouth St.

Cost for adults is $10, chil­dren are $5. Din­ners in clued salad, bread and but­ter, spa­ghetti, meat­balls, cof­fee and cake. Soda, wa­ter, beer and wine are ex­tra. ••

Pho­tos at Brides­burg Rec.

Lim­ited slots re­main to have “an­gel pho­tos” taken at the Brides­burg Rec. Cen­ter from Monday through Thursday, Nov. 5-8.

The 31st an­nu­al St. John Can­ti­us an­nu­al Chris­mas Bazaar will be held Fri­day, Nov. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sat­urday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m. at 4435 Al­mond St.

Frank­lin Towne Charter beef-and-beer

You’re in­vited to Frank­lin Towne Charter High School’s 10th an­nu­al beef-and-beer on Fri­day, Nov. 9 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cannstat­ter Ball­room, 9130 Academy Rd.

Tick­ets are $30 in ad­vance and $35 at the door.

At­tendees can en­joy de­li­cious food, beer, wine and live en­ter­tain­ment. There will also be a cash bar and 50/50 raffles, along with an auc­tion, gift bas­kets and oth­er prizes. ••

Can­ning work­shop

Wheth­er you’ve been think­ing about learn­ing to can or you’re well-versed in the ways of homemade jam, this class is for you. Phil­adelphia-based can­ning teach­er, blog­ger and cook­book au­thor Mar­isa Mc­Cle­l­lan will walk you through the ba­sics of boil­ing wa­ter bath can­ning.

You’ll learn to make apple-cran­berry jam and will go home with a jar. This class is from noon to 2 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Green­grow Com­munity Kit­chen at St. Mi­chael’s Church, 2139 E.
