Parkwood hockey star retires jersey

Ry­an Frain, a Park­wood res­id­ent and Arch­bish­op Ry­an High School gradu­ate, re­cently had his Temple Uni­versity ice hockey jer­sey re­tired.

Frain, a for­ward who wore No. 8, played from the 2006-07 sea­son through 2010-11. He is the pro­gram’s all-time lead­er in goals (109), as­sists (116) and points (225).

The ce­re­mony took place at the Cav­ity Busters Fly­ers Skate Zone, at 10990 Dec­atur Road, be­fore a game against Wil­li­am Pa­ter­son (N.J.).

A ban­ner fea­tures his name and num­ber.

Frain helped lead the Owls to the Amer­ic­an Col­lege Hockey As­so­ci­ation Di­vi­sion II cham­pi­on­ship tour­na­ment in San Jose, Cal­if., as a seni­or. He is now an as­sist­ant coach. ••
