Bustleton fence painter struck and killed by out-of-control car

Phil­adelphia po­lice are in­vest­ig­at­ing why a mo­tor­ist lost con­trol of a car and struck three fence-paint­ers, killing one, in Bustleton early Sat­urday.

The crash oc­curred at 6:49 a.m. on the 600 block of Red Li­on Road. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, a 21-year-old man was driv­ing a 1991 Chevy Caprice west­bound when he lost con­trol of the car, jumped the curb on the east­bound side of the road and struck three people po­si­tioned in front of an iron fence.

Fire de­part­ment med­ics pro­nounced one vic­tim dead at the scene. He was 43. The two oth­er vic­tims, ages and genders un­known, were taken to Aria Health-Tor­res­dale with non-life-threat­en­ing in­jur­ies, po­lice said.

The mo­tor­ist also suffered non-life-threat­en­ing in­jur­ies and was treated at Aria Health-Tor­res­dale.

No crim­in­al charges have been filed. ••
