Pets of the Week (March 28, 2012)

Hey, Mo

Mo is an affectionate cat who likes to purr. She has been with Northeast Animal Rescue since last September, when she was rescued after taking a ride in the engine compartment of a car for several miles.

The cat’s name is short for “Motor Oil,” since she was filthy with engine grease, emaciated and full of scabs and hair loss from fleas when she emerged from the engine compartment.

Since then, she has gained weight, her scabs have healed and her fur has grown in beautifully. She loves attention and wants nothing more than a home of her own. She is great with children and may do well in a home with a mellow or laid-back dog.

Mo, who is 21 months old, is spayed and current on vaccinations, and she has tested negative for the feline immunodeficiency and leukemia viruses.

To adopt Mo, fill out an application at http://nar.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=3130567 or visit PetSmart at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd. ••

Playtime for Jamz

Jamz is an adorable 9-month-old, 40-pound Labrador/terrier mix who loves to play.

The dog was found on a train platform and is available for adoption at Philadelphia’s Animal Care and Control, at 111 W. Hunting Park Ave. The tag number is 15123117.

Jamz knows the “sit” and “down” commands, and would love to live with another dog and would be fine with a cat in the house. The dog would like to meet any small kids before being adopted.

Adoption hours are weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone interested in fostering a pet can e-mail nsmith@pspca.org or jsweeney@pspca.org ••

Pearl’s looking for love

Pearl is a small female cat who was neglected in a house with too many pets.

The 18-month-old blue tuxedo cat is timid, but very gentle and sweet. She is available for adoption through Forgotten Cats and is looking for someone to love and cherish her.

Pearl is spayed and vaccinated, and has tested negative for the feline leukemia and immunodeficiency viruses.

To apply to adopt Pearl, visit www.petfinder.com/shelters/PA586.html or go to the PetSmart at 901 Old York Road in Jenkintown. ••
