Robbers flee with $30,000 after NE home invasion

A pack of gun-toting robbers invaded the home of an Oxford Circle couple and stole $30,000 cash from them, in addition to jewelry and a gun, according to police.

The husband, 42, and wife, 41, arrived home on the 1400 block of McKinley St. at about 7 p.m. on Sunday, said Officer Tanya Little, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman. They heard a voice demanding, “Don’t move or I’ll shoot you.”

Six to seven males appeared and forced them into their rowhouse at gunpoint. One of the bandits pistol-whipped the husband four times in the head, forcing the couple to surrender their belongings.

The husband suffered cuts but was not hospitalized. The wife was uninjured.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction. They were described as black. Most wore black hoodies. One wore a white hoodie and used a rag to cover his face.

Police described the victims as Asian business owners. It is not known if the robbers followed the victims home from their place of business or if they had specific knowledge that the victims kept a large sum of money in the house.
