An­nu­al Itali­an fest­iv­al

Moth­er of Di­vine Grace in Port Rich­mond con­tin­ues its an­nu­al Itali­an Fest­iv­al on June 7, 8 and 9 on the school grounds. Open at 4:30 p.m. with Itali­an din­ners be­gin­ning in the school hall at 5 p.m. Food, games and a beer garden. Loc­ated at 2612 E. Mon­mouth St., at the corner of E. Cam­bria and E. Thompson streets. ••

Bingo at LSH

The Luther­an Set­tle­ment House, at Frank­ford Av­en­ue and Mas­ter Street, will host bingo on Fri­day, June 22. A spe­cial lunch will be for sale at 11:30 a.m. $7 ad­mis­sion in­cludes five lap cards and a free chance on the door prize.

Budget sem­in­ar

Emanuel United Church of Christ, along with the Phil­adelphia Cred­it Uni­on, will of­fer a free sem­in­ar on budget­ing and cred­it on Sat­urday, June 9 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Emanuel UCC is loc­ated at 2628 Fill­more St. The sem­in­ar is free of charge and open to pub­lic. ••

Kon­rad Square flea mar­ket

Friends of Kon­rad Square will host a flea mar­ket Sat­urdays June 9 and 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kon­rad Square at Tulip and Dauph­in Streets. To rent a space call Vicky, 215-426-9654. ••

Justice for Wayne Walk

At 10 a.m. on Ju­ly 28, there will be a march in memory of Wayne El­lis. He was shot and killed while on his way home on Ju­ly 28, 2002, at Bel­grade Street and Frank­ford Av­en­ue.

In the 10 years since his death the fam­ily claims they have no an­swers. The march hopes to break the si­lence. They seek 100 or more people to join in the walk. Every­one is wel­come.

The walk will be­gin at Front and Spring Garden streets and head to Frank­ford Av­en­ue at Bel­grade St.

It costs $20 per per­son to par­ti­cip­ate in the walk and you will re­ceive a brace­let and t-shirt. It will cost $30 to at­tend the beef and beer if you don’t par­ti­cip­ate in the me­mori­al walk.

The fam­ily will be selling shirts, brace­lets, raffle tick­ets and bas­kets.

The Fest­iv­al de Bam­bu­lae

The Fest­iv­al de Bam­bu­lae is a Pu­erto Ric­an garden cel­eb­ra­tion that will hon­or renowned Artist Pe­pon Osorio and com­munity mem­ber Rosa Lopez for their im­pact on the Nor­ris Square com­munity.

Port Rich­mond West CAN to meet

The next meet­ing of Port Rich­mond West CAN will take place on Wed­nes­day even­ing, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Firm Hope Baptist Church at 2313 East Au­burn St. Come out and hear about com­munity de­vel­op­ments planned for our area, in­clud­ing a storm wa­ter park, and an en­er­get­ic af­ford­able hous­ing pro­pos­al.

Sum­mer Youth Arts Work­shop

Asi­an Arts Ini­ti­at­ive, a com­munity-based arts cen­ter, is seek­ing ap­plic­a­tions for its an­nu­al free Sum­mer Youth Arts Work­shop and Sum­mer Youth Lounge.

The week­day work­shop ses­sions are hos­ted at the Ini­ti­at­ive’s headquar­ters in Chin­atown (1219 Vine St.) from Ju­ly 9 to Au­gust 17. Led by pro­fes­sion­al teach­ing artists who serve as ment­ors for youth in­ter­ested in the arts, the ses­sions are free and open to Phil­adelphia pub­lic, private and charter school stu­dents in grades six through 12.

Gun Buy Back Pro­gram

On Sat­urday, June 30, from 9 a.m. un­til 2 p.m., at the Kens­ing­ton Min­istry, 2140 N Han­cock St., the 26th Po­lice Dis­trict is con­duct­ing a “Gun Buy Back Pro­gram” in or­der to in­crease safety.

The money gathered from busi­nesses and elec­ted of­fi­cials will be used to buy gift cards to area food mar­kets.  Un­loaded guns or rifles can be ex­changed for a $100 dol­lar gift card, no ques­tions asked. The money you donate will go dir­ectly to re­mov­ing guns from our streets.

Cus­tom­er ap­pre­ci­ation day

At Sweets and Treats shop, 3138 Rich­mond St. June 16, noon un­til close. Be­cause of com­munity sup­port, the shop was able to ex­pand to now carry Her­shey’s ice cream and an Ash­er’s chocol­ate counter. The shop will give every cus­tom­er a free scoop of ice cream and samples of Ash­er’s chocol­ates and Jelly Belly jelly­beans. ••

Join St. Anne’s choir

The mu­sic pro­gram at St. Anne’s Church, loc­ated at 2328 E. Le­high Ave., is look­ing for chor­al sing­ers to join the church’s fest­iv­al choir. The choir will sing at the Sol­emn Clos­ing of the Novena to St. Anne on Thursday, Ju­ly 26 at 7 p.m.

NK­CDC park­let meet­ing

The New Kens­ing­ton Com­munity De­vel­op­ment Corper­a­tion will host a pub­lic meet­ing to dis­cuss a pro­pos­al to in­stall a park­let at 2311 Frank­ford Ave.

This meet­ing will be held Monday, June 11 at 6 p.m., at Circle of Hope Church, 2009 Frank­ford Ave. 

The NK­CDC said that the park­let would provide a space for pass­ive re­cre­ation and be open to the pub­lic. It would be loc­ated in the park­ing lane at the above ad­dress and oc­cupy one in street park­ing space.
